Edge made his miraculous and respective in ring return during the 2020 Royal Rumble on January 26, 2020 after retiring from WWE for 9 years due to a neck injury and automatically ending his in-ring career. On the following night on Raw, Randy Orton attacked his former tag-team partner while Edge shot an inspirational promo. Which started an exciting rivalry that we should ALL be thankful for.
This rivalry was a set up for a Last Man Standing Match at WrestleMania 36; Which Edge was victorious. The issue is that many fans weren't happy about the brutal match. Many fans and skeptics felt though that WWE was trying to kill time the bout because of the unusual circumstance of WrestleMania being Fan-less and taped in the Performance Center. Edge vs. Orton was widely expected to be an instant classic that allowed "The Rated R Superstar" to showcase how good looks after nearly a decade out of the ring. And I personally thought they delivered. But most of the WWE universe was quick to judge the match and not appreciate the great shape and skill Edge is in.
But now that Fans weren't satisfied with the match and how long the match was. It seems WWE is continuing this rivalry. On May 18, both Edge and Randy Orton appeared on Monday Night Raw. And Randy goes to express how Edge was the better man in the Last Man Standing Match; but he isn't the better "WRESTLER". So he goes on to challenge Edge to a "WRESTLING MATCH". Edge comes out and delivers yet again; a passionate promo. He mentions how this is all a game for Randy. It's just another paycheck; While he(Edge) had to fight, scratch, and dream of becoming a WWE champion. So Edge and Randy Orton will have a match at BackLash. It is scheduled to take place on June 14, 2020.
