The new year is in full swing and no matter what your resolutions were or where you are at with them, there's something inside all of us that relishes the fresh start that January 1st brings. So as the bliss of the holidays finally fades and the craziness of life starts up again, here are some ways to live life just a little better this year.

1. Read a book.

2. Write in a journal.

3. Join a new club or organization.

4. Write snail mail to a friend.

5. Buy coffee for the person behind you.

6. Go to a restaurant/city/place you’ve never been to before.

7. Go thrift shopping.

8. Sit on a bench in the mall and people watch.

9. Or at the park.

10. Or at your favorite coffee shop.

11. Go for a drive and listen to your favorite music REALLY loud.

12. Sit on your floor and listen to music you’ve never heard before.

13. Take up a new hobby.

14. Ask someone you barely know to have lunch.

15. Go to a cheap concert for a band you’ve never heard of.

16. Draw or doodle or color.

17. Exercise.

18. I’m going to say that one again so maybe I will do it too. Exercise.

19. Even if it’s just going to one yoga class a week.

20. Clean your room.

21. Go to an art museum.

22. Go to the public library.

23. Support your local businesses.

24. Turn off your phone.

25. Call your mom.

26. Go to Bath and Body Works and smell all of the candles.

27. Organize something in your life, whether it be your planner or your closet or your sock drawer.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
