Disney+ came out this week and along with it came a long list of movies I have never seen. I am very open about not having seen many classics that everyone else my age has seen time and time again.
The first movie I decided to watch on this journey: the classic The Lion King.
I already knew most of the plotlines before watching the movie because the movie has been out for 25 years now and people love to talk about it. I mentally prepared myself for that scene (we all know what I am talking about) and I have to say, it was worth the wait.
I can now finally understand the memes about the movie and why everyone praised the film. The animation was incredible and despite being animals, I could see a bit of realism in the characters.
In honor of the film being out for 25 years, this movie holds up well. It is a classic Disney movie that will continue to be talked about for years to come.
Let us be real, Disney+ is not for the young viewer. It is for the longtime Disney fans who want to see their favorite classics over and over again. For the few criticisms, I see the new streaming platform get, I say this was a good idea and will definitely work out in the long run. People know what they love and Disney knows it as well.
There are many streaming platforms out there now and they are all great in their own regard. Do we wish the prices were lower on some of them (yes) but we still love them because they give us access to movies that may be hard to find otherwise?
The Lion King can now be checked off of my imaginary list.
My next stop on this journey is the Toy Story franchise (and who knows when the fourth one will arrive to the Disney+ platform).
