Was That Supposed To Hurt?

I was told my first tattoo should have hurt, but it wound up not.

Was That Supposed To Hurt?

This past Friday I just got my first tattoo. I had scheduled it at Black Cat Collective because that is where my brother and friends get their tattooing and piercing done, plus I really like my tattoo artist. I had gotten tattooed by the guy who goes by Honest Josh in the shop. He's super chill and down to earth, plus he can spit out random facts that help the time go by.

The tattoo I wound up getting was a heart outline. To some it may not seem that significant, but the heart I got tattooed is the same heart that I've been drawing in the same spot on my ankle since I was seven-years-old. So, for me, this tattoo has a lot of meaning behind it. I mean, I waited 12 years to get it!

Josh is truly passionate about the work he does, so he doesn't stop what he is doing until he feels that it is finished. My tattoo was really simple to do, but it's line work, and he likes to make sure there's not bumps or strays where they shouldn't be. After about seven minutes my tattoo was finished.

When we had first started my tattoo he started with a dot first and then a line. Josh and my brother who was with me were both surprised that it didn't hurt me at all. They said in the place that I have the tattoo on my ankle it should cause a least a bit of pain, but it didn't. If anything there was a little sting at first, but nothing like they said I should have felt.

Josh was saying in the beginning that after about 15 minutes of tattooing my endorphins would kick in and I wouldn't feel any pain, but then said I won't even get to that time. At first that worried me that I would feel a bunch of pain throughout the whole session, but oddly enough I felt almost nothing.

Josh said luckily women have a higher pain tolerance and the legs are one of the most sensitive places to tattoo on the body which I was surprised to learn. Needless to say, they were surprised when the needle didn't make me jump when it first started along my ankle bone.

I'm glad I finally went through with this and got my tattoo. It was definitely a small one, but it was the one that I wanted the most. I'm also happy that this was my first one.

I already have my next one drawn out, but I don't think I'll be getting it anytime soon at least.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
