Now let me just start off by saying that in no way does my view on war mean that I do not support the brave men and women that fight for our country. I have a lot of respect for them, and their families. I know that what they do is to protect us and American citizens, and to protect our rights.

War sucks. We all know this. I don't think that anyone is a 'fan' of war, but I personally think it is pointless. I was getting my geek on one night, watching Doctor Who, and the Doctor gave an amazing speech breaking down just how pointless war really is. Basically, what he said is no matter how right you think you are in what you are doing, you have no idea who is really on the other side of the weapon you are firing.

You don't really know who you are killing when you drop a bomb on a city. How many children will die, and how many mothers will lose sons or daughters? When you shoot at the enemy, how many people feel the loss of a loved one? You don't know, and that is something that I will never be able to understand. I will never be able to wrap my mind around the idea that in order to gain peace and protection, people have to die.

How does war really help? Sure someone 'wins', but that feeling only lasts for so long. Sooner or later you'll remember that people had to die at expense of your victory.

Yes, some of those people were 'bad,' but most were innocent and good people. Is the life of a human being really worth that little? So little that entire countries would rather kill each other, rather than just sit down and talk about the problem?

This world has serious problem with not being able to let things go. No one knows how to accept others for their sexuality, race or religion. There is also an issue of not being able to forgive. The only way to achieve peace, and let go of all of ways others have wronged you, is to forgive.

Forgiveness is the strongest power someone can have. If everyone would just get over themselves and accept that there are other ways of life, and that it is OK, then there would be no more war. There would be no need for it. If we as the human race could just accept and forgive, then the world would be a better and safer place.

We would finally achieve peace, and isn't that what everyone is ultimately fighting for?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
