Both men and women alike are known to partake in watching pornographic videos and instances online or on other media platforms.
Some may argue that sexually-oriented footage is not the sole source of pornography. Rather, any form of reality television or anything else that allows individuals an inside look on the lives of others that they would not typically otherwise receive qualifies as pornography.
Some individuals simply watch something posted on the Internet that is open to the public. They do not see themselves as taking advantage of women, or any gender identification because in their eyes, individuals online voluntarily put themselves in this position.
However, not all individuals watch pornography. If someone states that all men enjoy pornographic experiences, then they are generalizing by associating all members of the male community to be intrigued by pornography. I feel that some men may be less inclined to watch pornography than some women and vice versa.
While people who are porn watchers do not view themselves as invading the space of others by merely tuning in online, some may argue that they are. I feel that as long a people are not utilizing the pornography in a malicious way, then their behavior is acceptable.
For example, it is natural for a heterosexual man to be attracted to a woman, and as long as someone is not viewing child pornography, then his or her actions are justified.
However, young people who watch pornography to gain insight on sexual intercourse and interactions must understand the seriousness of consent. An individual’s eyes wandering on a screen is not dangerous, but his or her hands touching another person without permission is inhumane and illegal.
