4 Super Awesome Reasons You Should Visit The Grand Canyon

I recently returned from a breath-taking vacation. It was much needed after a rigorous first semester. As a reflective person, I often lose myself in my own thoughts. My trip to Arizona and Nevada was perfect for this exact purpose. I believe everyone should make a trip out to the Grand Canyon at least once in their life.

1. The view is unbelievable.

The Grand Canyon is nearly impossible to put into words. It is indescribable. The zoom lens on my Canon camera tries its best to capture the depth of the Canyon. It is so expansive there aren't enough words for it. It looks different depending on the time of day. The shadows and light play up another aspect from every angle. I went to the Grand Canyon twice and I still found it as amazing as the first time.

2. The Grand Canyon makes you reflect.

Seeing how small you are among the eons old stones is a humbling experience. Each layer has witnessed history. It shares some of these stories with us while others remain a mystery. Gazing out into the seemingly never-ending chasm makes you wonder about your place in life or your position in history. Despite being so high, you feel on top of the world. However, a slight slip as you climb the rocks reminds you of how easy it is to fall with a careless step.

3. It is a change of scenery.

Being from the Midwest, I'm used to seeing green plains and cows extending for miles on end. A long road trip consisted of the same scenery flashing by and perhaps some horses. It was refreshing to stare at the red mountains and different formations on the drive to the Grand Canyon. Instead of green, brown and red contrasts with the vivid blue of the clear sky. The change in scenery makes you appreciate the different kinds of beauty in the world. Everyday scenes, like a sunset, becomes glorious as the sun vanishes behind the Canyon.

4. You will feel inspired.

Artists, writers, designers, basically anyone who creates, has faced a slump. Being at the Grand Canyon made me feel like painting the scene before me. Peering into the gigantic formation inspired me to write this article. The fresh air and raw beauty frees your mind and boosts your imagination. There is no distractions to pull you away. There is nothing between you and nature (especially if you don't have service on the canyon). Clearing your head allows creativity to flourish. Trust me, when you return you will feel energized and ready to tackle your next assignment.

Make your next vacation the Grand Canyon.

I promise you it will be an unforgettable experience.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
