Every gamer has once had a childhood dream where they could slide on a helmet and play in a virtual world. They want to feel an actual weapon in their hands, and see the monsters they battle, as if it were actually attacking them. For gamers, video games were always a place where they could escape reality and pretend to be a part of another world. As advanced as technology already is, virtual reality was still considered a far fetched dream. Gamers and their imaginations were confined to their consoles and their television screens.
Many great companies have tried to accomplish the goal of virtual reality gaming. Some have had success, but there has yet to be one that has been able to fully immerse all the human senses into gaming.
For the Summer of 2016, a company called, The Void, has set forth to finally create a form of virtual reality entertainment that will fully immerse the senses of a player. They plan to open their first Virtual Entertainment Center in Utah.
The companies vision is to create the future of entertainment. A whole new experience from movies and even video gaming. Their centers will be a digital theme park where people can see, move, and feel the adventures of a limitless virtual world - whether the world be fighting in intergalactic wars or casting spells in the darkest of dungeons.
The Void wants to create an experience that is similar to the process of the movie theatre. Customers will purchase tickets for a a specific showtime, and than enter a room where they will put on their virtual reality gear. The gear consists of a computer backpack that will allow them to roam around the virtual world untethered, a virtual reality headset that will bring you to a portal into the virtual world and a hand held item based on the storyline. The company also plans to release content every quarter of every year much like movie theatres.
To produce original content the company will create a video game division called Void Games, which will also help to integrate third party developers. Once their first Virtual Reality Entertainment Center is ready to be commercialized, they plan on developing centers all over the world. After a wide enough network is built, The Void believes that their brand will become a new entertainment platform that will sit along the lines with Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo, and etc.
In Summer 2016 video gamers and their imaginations will no longer be confined to their consoles and television screens. Our childhood dreams of running around in a virtual world will finally come. I don't know about you guys, but I'm already planning a road trip to Utah.
