Video games. They make up most of society and inhabit most smartphones. It comes in many shapes; through apps, game systems, DVDs, and many other types that most people just haven't recognized or hasn't ever thought of yet. But what's the huge appeal?
Other than either being in a virtual world and battle other players such as "Fortnite," the Internet's mostly broadcasted game, or LOL, the famous league of legends game that keeps getting remodeled into mobile styles such as "Mobile Legends," or the joys of tapping games such as "Neko Atsume" with cute kitties swarming the whole mobile phone and engaging in capturing strays and feeding them food, video games can be a huge waste of time. But honestly, I disagree.
Video games, if I'm not careful enough, can quickly inhabit my life.
In fact, on breaks such as these: spring breaks, winter breaks, summer, weekends, give me ample time to invest in them. So many people see it as a bad thing. Aside from becoming a recluse in the bedroom, or crouching hours in the bathroom pretending to finish one's business, my phone will be currently seen in my hand, opening on the mobile app Mobile Legends.
Currently, it is one of my favorite MOBA games, because of the fact it is a mobile copy of League of Legends, and I don't feel like downloading the game in the laptop because of it taking up large quantities of space. And second, it can crash. Third, I hate creating game accounts. Quick flashback to my game accounts for "World of Warcraft." All of that progress just deleted. Sigh. The world of gaming just isn't consistent anymore on a PC or laptop. I rely on mobile games instead.
That way, none of my games will be lost. My phone is safely kept in my pocket wherever I go, and during intervals of waiting on line or waiting for my brother to exit school, is the perfect time for some quick gaming. Others can scowl at me in disgust, and shake their head at me disapprovingly and just think to themselves this kid could have done something better in their own spare time... but in my eyes and my own mind, I am doing something better.
I am exercising my eye and hand movement, and studies have proven that games increase that useful skill grandly and while looking for future jobs and internships, many job hires will want me as a good candidate. I am also exercising my level of competitive energy, for, in sports, my energy can increase and cause me wanting to win for certain things in all areas such as academics, social lives, sports, extracurricular activities, family events, and many more.
Certain games evoke different skills for the player. MOBA games result in effective skills in multitasking and exercising strategic skills that can be used in job areas such as marketing, designing, and IT. Puzzle games result in effective skills such as building effectivity, and critical thinking to solve a problem which can also be used in job areas such as engineering, designing, and research positions. Adventure games result in important skills such as battle strategy skills, defense, that can be used in job areas such as law, business, criminal justice.
Even little kids from future generations are indulged in games of all sorts. My little brother, for example, cannot stop playing Clash Royale, a battle strategy MOBA game that involves destroying the enemies' towers. What's interesting and stimulating for him is that he can play with his fellow friends as most MOBA games allow. During a homework break, he can easily go on a fellow mobile device to engage in competitive battling.
I agree, there are disagreements about how the number of video games is destroying people's lives. It can be distracting in important situations such as trying to prep for an exam, but it is important to understand that video games are just the perfect resource for relaxation. Instead of taking a nap, video games can awaken one's senses and allow people to have sharpened skills in their everyday lives.
