According to the Vegan Society, "veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose." According to this site, the amount of people who've gone vegan has increased over 350 percent in the past decade. This could be for health reasons, since studies have found that consuming meat and dairy can lead to cancer risks. Another reason is that it helps the environment. The documentary Cowspiracy showcases how animal agriculture has negatively been affecting the Earth. The most common reason to go vegan is for the ethical reasons. If you can find your favorite foods but in the vegan version, why not eat them instead? Veganuary is all about going vegan for the month of January. This is definitely one way to get a jump start that eating healthier resolution. Here are some vegan foods you should eat this January, and taste-test videos to hear what people think about other vegan products!

1.Enjoy Life Soft Baked Cookies

These cookies are super soft and chewy. Be warned: the snickerdoodle ones are extremely addictive.

2. Surf Sweets Organic Fruity Bears

Taste-wise these are great. Texture-wise they're more like Sour Patch Kids (which are vegan!) than traditional gummy bears.

3. Gardein Products

You seriously can't tell the difference between these products and real meat products. The crabless cakes taste so much like fish it's almost scary. Also, the crispy tenders are the best.

4. Beyond Beef

These are great for taco nights, or to throw in a chili or pasta. The taste and texture is almost exactly like regular ground beef.

5. Chao Cheese Slices

By far this is the best fake cheese product you'll find. The texture is spot on and the taste is pretty incredible. The original has a slight coconut aftertaste since it's made with coconut oil. The tomato cayenne has a little kick to it and is perfect to melt for quesadillas.

6. Daiya Salad Dressing

Truth be told these dressings don't taste too different from each other, but the caesar is my favorite. They're perfect for dipping veggies in or making an awesome salad, which you can fill with Gardein products and other Daiya dairy products.

6. Larry and Lenny's: The Complete Cookies

These are hit or miss. The chocolate chip cookies are a little dense and not the most flavorful, but the lemon ones are really chewy and taste amazing. I suggest trying a few and seeing which ones you like most.

7. Go Max Go Candy Bars

If you're looking for the vegan version of your favorite candy bar, you found it! Joker is like a Snickers and Mahalo is like an Almond Joy. They're so indulgent you would never think of them as being vegan.

8. Silk Dark Chocolate Almond Milk

The dark chocolate almond milk is a chocolate-lover's dream. Silk has so many options you're sure to find at least one you like!

9. Annie's Organic Cocoa Bunnies Cereal

Hack: eat this with Silk Dark Chocolate Almond Milk for total chocolately goodness. Seriously, so good.

10. Ben and Jerry's Dairy Free Ice Cream

Look-wise, this ice cream is a little darker than traditional, most likely because of the almond milk. Taste-wise, you can't tell the difference. It's still delicious and satisfying.

Here are some vegan taste-test videos to watch to see what vegans and non-vegans have to say about vegan products!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
