Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and I am sure that restaurants are already being flooded with reservations, as it seems that most people think that the best way to celebrate Valentine's Day is to go to dinner. And if you're a procrastinator, thinking that the day before Valentine's day is enough time to make reservations, then you're in for a treat. Most restaurants, especially popular ones, start to take reservations weeks before because of how many people go to dinner on this day.

Although Valentine's day is a day dedicated to someone we love, it shouldn't be the only day out of the year where we show that special someone how much we love them by spending crazy amounts of money on overpriced food, stuffed animals and chocolates. Whether you're coupled-up or would rather celebrate Galantines day instead, here are a few date ideas that stay clear of the cliché restaurant date and won't hurt your bank account as much.

Cook at home together.

Restaurants tend to be very crowded and noisy on Valentine's Day, so instead of going to one, spend the night cooking together at home. This way you don't spend as much money as you would at a restaurant, you're in the comfort of your own home, and it is more intimate than sharing your day/night in a crowded place with people you don't even know.

Have a Netflix night.

After you're done with dinner put on some Netflix and watch all your favorite shows and movies. You can catch up on all your current shows and it saves you at least $12 from the movie theaters.

Go watch the sunset.

Pick a romantic spot in your city, whether it be the beach, a balcony or a hill overlooking the city, pop some champagne or uncork a bottle of wine, open a box of chocolates covered strawberries and wait for the magical moment, when the sky turns that fiery red.

Relaxing spa day.

It's not every day that we can treat our mind and body to massages and mud baths. Take Valentine's Day and spend the day at a spa relaxing with your loved one. Both you and your partner will leave feeling fresh and relaxed and ready for another year filled with love.

Go on an adventure.

Step outside of your comfort zone and go to something that either of you has ever done before, and probably wouldn't do if you didn't have each other, like sky diving.

Vacation or staycation.

Instead of just celebrating one day, make a hotel reservation and spend the whole weekend with each other. Allowing for you two to have quality alone time together. This one may appeal more to those couples who don't really have much time to see each other during the week due to hectic work or school schedules.

Make it a fun filled day.

Don't make any set plans. Have fun driving around town enjoying each other's company. If you both decided to do something then do it. Don't commit to one thing just go out and have fun.

Painting with a twist.

This is a fun activity because it allows you to get in touch with your creative side. The best part about it is that painting with a twist allows you to bring in your own wine! Making it that much more exciting!

Wine tasting.

For those wine lovers, head on over to your local brewery and spend the day wine tasting. You can learn new things about wine, like how it is made, while at the same time trying new wines you've never tasted before. Who knows you might find a new favorite wine.

Game night.

Rack up all your favorite board games and spend the night playing all the games you used to play when you were kids. Make it even more fun and invite friends over and you can all enjoy a nice game night in.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
