Who doesn't love Vans? This awesome company recently added new arrivals to their websites and store locations and oh my! There are so many new styles of shoes as well as new colors to update your collection. Below are my favorite of the new additions and the types of shoes I think are the best buy. Vans lovers unite!

1. Checkerboard Slip-On - Scarab White

Price: $50.00

This pair is one of the new arrivals that Vans just released. The accent is black rather than the original white, which makes it pop even more! If you love the classic slip-ons, these are a must-have.

2. Gum Bumper Old Skool - Glacier Gray

Price: $55.00

Gum soles are one of the main themes the company produced in the newer shoes and they look bomb. This type of shoe comes in black, too, but the contrast of the gray and gum is super cool. Grab a pair of these and wear them during any season, any weather... basically any time.

3. SK8-Hi - Nightshade/True White

Price: $65.00

Everyone knows about the classic scarab SK8-His, either because they've seen them or they own them. Vans just released new colors for this shoe and the nightshade is so rad. It's the perfect combination of blue, black, and purple — so if you buy them, your Vans will be different (and better).

4. Salton Canvas Court Icon - Mineral Yellow

Price: $55.00

Do you own a yellow pair of shoes? Or even a yellow piece of clothing? This pair is the much-needed pop of color you need in your wardrobe. It's classic look with the addition of the "Off the Walls" skateboard brings a unique side to the Court style.

5. Anaheim Factory Slip-On 98 DX - Suede

Price: $80.00

Slip-ons are always a statement. Revamp your aesthetic with this look — enough black to go with everything and enough white to have an accent. This can work for any style, whether it be grunge, boho, or chic (or your own unique look).

6. SK8-Hi MTE - Winter Moss/Military

Price: $90.00

If you're like me, you have a pair of Vans for everything. Vans recently released a new line of SK8-His for different types of weather. You can finally wear a pair of these bad boys and not have to be worried about ruining the fabric. These were made for rain and snow! The MTEs come in five colors, but this green is my favorite.

7. Old Skool Lite - Pewter

Price: $65.00

A new twist to the classic Old Skools. Vans added some new features to this shoe, including a thinner backing and more colors. The pewter gray is the coolest in my opinion — you can still get it in the popular black/white. These types are more chunky than slip-ons, making it more sturdy and great for trekking.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
