I don't hate Valentine's Day but I'm not a huge fan of it either. It's a day dedicated to showing your love for someone by giving them chocolates, flowers, or jewelry. Why does there need to be a specific day devoted to that? If you're in a committed relationship, you should be showing your significant other that you love them every day, not just one day out of the year. If you're not in a committed relationship, why would you choose Valentine's Day to confess your love for someone? Please be more original.

This year, rather than wallowing in my own self-pity, these are some of the events I want to attend:

1. Galentine's celebration with just us girls!

Round up the girls and attend this event at Community Thrift on Wednesday night! Enjoy food, drinks, and giveaways all night!

2. Palentine's Day.

Head to the ASLC on Wednesday with your best pals to make friendship bracelets, play games, and eat snack food! It's February 13th and 7 p.m. in their Cyber Cafe!

3. CDU Loves You!

Free food and carnival games on Landis Green! What a great way to pass the time in between your classes.

4. Frolics of Florida.

A 21+ tour at the Tallahassee Museum designed to teach people about different animal's mating behaviors. Talk about doing something different on Valentine's Day. It's on V-Day at 6 - 8 p.m.

5. Bring your Bae to Barre.

A free, hour-long workout at Refinery Barre Fitness. Bring your bae or your best friend and get your sweat on! Enjoy Valentine's Day drinks afterward.

6. Valentine's Flight of Love.

Why spend Valentine's Day alone when you can get a $12 beer flight at Brass Tap?

7. Valentine's Day Sips and Stories.

Take this opportunity to explore an iconic Tallahassee building after hours with three wine and cheese tasting stations. There's no better way to learn about the Florida Historic Capitol Museum!

8. Single & Ready to Mingle?

For all the 21+ singles out there, head to Level 8 in Hotel Duval for a fun-filled night of meeting new people. The best part will be the view of Tallahassee!

9. Valentine's Day Party.

Spend the day after Valentine's Day at Kavakaze. Show up in pink or red in order to get 20% off your tab and enjoy other deals throughout the night!

10. Valentine's Brunch Crawl: You Complete Me.

If mimosas are your favorite love, grab a group of your best buds and go to Madison Social for the brunch crawl. Three places and three drinks = free shirt!

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
