I Used To Be A One Direction Super Fan

Now, I may have been a little too obsessed with One Direction at one point, but let's face it, I'll always be a 1D fan at heart.

A lot of people who know me nowadays probably don't know that I used to be a One Direction super fan. Trust me when I say I was obsessed. I had t-shirts, posters, toothpaste, a toothbrush, and even figurines and notebooks with their faces on them. You name it, I probably had it with One Direction on it. Now, how did I get into being a crazy super fan, you ask? Well, it all started when I heard that one magical song, "What Makes You Beautiful." So, let's take a look back to see what it meant to be a One Direction super fan. And trust me guys, these are real photos from my social media accounts.

As you can see, my brother was a real supporter of my love for One Direction. Can we talk about how that backpack was full of 1D notebooks, folders, and pens?

Most of the shirts I owned had something to do with loving British boys. Everything was red, white, and blue, but not for America. My love for England skyrocketed, and not only did I become obsessed with 1D, but also with England and of course Ireland. ;)

A big thing I did was turn my Twitter that maybe had 30 followers into a fan page for 1D. This was a pic from my twitter. Once I did this, I gained so many followers who were just as obsessed, if not more obsessed, than me. To this day, I still follow some One Direction twitter accounts and many of the accounts still follow me. The popular thing to do was tag #OneDirection at the end of all your tweets no matter what they were about.

Being an obsessed fan meant going to concerts with your cousin (who was also obsessed) and making sure your outfits were on point just in case you met the boys. We freaked out just seeing the tour bus, can you imagine us at the concert?

My cousin, who was also obsessed and was pictured above, and me decided to decorate our Easter eggs with the members of One Direction. There was also that one time that we had to eat Thanksgiving dinner in a timely fashion so we could watch One Direction on "I-Carly." Oh, the things we did. That's dedication, man.

Were you even a fan if you didn't have a set of over priced pajamas with their faces on them? Delia's was one of my favorite stores at the time and came out with a collection of One Direction stuff and I was pumped. And no, those weren't my only two 1D posters.

A big thing to do when you were a super fan was get this app where you could insert pictures of the One Direction members into your photos. Of course, I had this app and used it religiously, even if it was very fake looking.

I started toning it down my senior year of high school, but still incorporated my unending love for them into one of my senior photos. Shout out to the Harry Styles dog tag.

Now, I may have been a little too obsessed with One Direction at one point, but let's face it, I'll always be a 1D fan at heart. I'll definitely continue sleeping in my 1D concert t-shirts and setting my Harry Styles figurines on my desk each semester, and of course, internally freaking out whenever one of their songs comes on.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
