Pokémon Go has only been out for a couple weeks and has already exploded immense popularity. Parks are full of kids staring at their screens, all chasing Pokémon in cyberspace. People in public places are appalled by all the kids and young adults (some full on adults, even) walking around looking for nonexistent things, staring at their phones and finally cheering and clicking, then muttering as they flick the screen for 5 to 60 seconds, then either cheer again or despair, telling the tale of how they fared at capturing their target.
Pokémon Go has already surpassed Candy Crushed Saga as the most popular game app, and some statisticians predict it will even surpass Facebook in daily uses soon.
Despite how much people already love it, there are some things that could certainly make the game a lot better. Luckily, Niantic has revealed quite a few awesome perks that will be added to the game.
Gyms will become even more competitive as features are added to the game, with one of them being gym notifications to players holding gyms. This will alert trainers who hold a gym that their turf is being invaded, allowing for them to respond quicker to contentions by other teams.
It will also include a nifty setting where you can communicate with other players in your area on your team to collaborate and help take down gyms.
There are actually a multitude of upgrades to the mapping and tracking system that will make the game immensely more interesting, including allowing the player to see where other players near them are on their map.
Maps will also reveal street names, making navigating around easier for people finding themselves wandering into places they are unfamiliar with.
They also intend to make the tracking system for Pokémon more effective, yet Niantic has not released any specific details as to how this is to be done.
Pokémon Go is also going to start creating timed group events where trainers will have to group up to complete sets of objectives within a set time.
Amongst these new additions to inspire teamwork, Niantic is also adding the traditional and essential components of Pokémon to the game, these are trading and battling from player to player. It can be a pain to go to a gym and players on the same team might want to test their teams against each other, and this will enable them to do just that. Trading Pokémon has always been an exciting part of the game, and many are stoked on this change and some think it should be left to the trainer to raise their Pokémon themselves.
Atop all of this, they are going to add a friend’s list feature. This will enable trainers to keep better track of each other and stay connected with their other Pokefriends.
Although we don't know exactly when Niantic is going to release these features, I have a hunch that we are going to get them soon!
See you around, catching them all!
