Aspiring hip hop artist, Mitchell Khoshdel, has recently been preparing to take his music to a new level. As a freshman at CU Boulder, he spends most of his time studying. When he gets a break from pursuing his future as a chemical engineer, however, he can be found writing lyrics and following his passion.
For the most part, Khoshdel shares his music through Soundcloud. Coming up on March 26th, he plans to take center stage in downtown Denver for his biggest performance yet. He will participate in and try out for something called Coast 2 Coast. In this competition, Mitch Khoshdel will be performing in front of three highly respected and influential judges. If he places as the top competitor, he will be sent to Miami to perform in front of big names like Wiz Khalifa and DJ Mustard
During the event, he will be performing the song, "Maniaphobia," for the audience. Khoshdel feels that this song properly represents his work and talent. The background instrumental was called Skitzo by Jarren Benton. When writing his own lyrics, Khoshdel said it came easily to him and that the lyrics just flowed. It only took him about an hour and a half to write and produce it. The song was originally about the effects of schizophrenia. Although he doesn’t have the disease, he decided to rise up to the challenge to prove his dynamic talent. “I am proving to the hip-hop world: I can master any style. I rose up to the challenge to hit the insane style,” said Khoshdel.
Unlike many other artists, he makes sure not to take himself too seriously. Although he likes to focus on making his music the best it can be, he still realizes that he’s still breaking into the industry. “I’m just a 19-year-old kid in college, I’m still just f**king around at this point,” said Khoshdel.
Other then his long-time association music, Khoshdel inherited a love of soccer from his father, and is still an avid fan today. Up until the time he was accepted at CU, he hoped to go on to play for a college team.
What separates Koshdel from the other competition, however, is his background. He is very close with his parents. He likes to keep company with a diverse group of people including all types of personalities and interests. If he ever makes it professionally, he claims that his friends and family are going to make it to fame with him. Another one of his goals is to put Aurora, Colo. on the map. This is where he grew up and still has strong affiliations there.
Besides his upcoming competition in Denver, Mitch Khoshdel also has another big project up his sleeve. Unfortunately, he was hesitant about sharing any further or more direct details.
