To the friends I've lost along the way,

You were the Blair to my Serena, the Peyton to my Brooke, the Christina to my Meredith, the Carrie to my Charlotte. We talked on the daily. We complained about classes, boys, and not graduating on time to each other. We were best friends.

In the beginning, I was most likely angry with you. I most likely swore that we would never be friends again, and that may be true. We may never speak again, and that may have to be okay.

Maybe we just grew apart. It was something that couldn’t be helped. We go to different colleges. We’ve made new friends who are here. Somewhere along the way, it just happened. We stopped texting as much. We stopped calling. That doesn’t mean that we stopped caring.

We’re all facing the big, bad, grownup, world; and we’re all trying our best.

No matter why we aren’t in each other’s lives anymore I want you to know that I’m rooting for you. I want you to succeed and get everything out of life that you ever wanted.

I hope that you pass the class that was giving you trouble.

I hope that you don’t trip at graduation.

I hope that the boy called you back.

I hope that he makes you happy.

I hope that you grow closer and closer to God each and every day.

I hope that you are going after everything you could ever want.

I hope that you have your dream wedding.

I hope that you have someone amazing standing by your side.

I hope you see all of the places that we’ve been talking about for years.

I hope that you get the job that you’ve been talking about forever.

I hope that you reach all of your goals.

I hope that you have the courage to go after your dreams.

I hope that you let go of the things that are holding you back.

I hope you finally got rid of that terrible sweater that had a hole in it.

I hope that you always stand up for yourself.

I hope that you have the strength to face every challenge thrown your way with confidence.

I hope that you always listen to your heart, even when you’re afraid.

I hope that you bought the dog, the one you always wanted.

I hope you know that even though we don’t talk anymore, I’m still only a phone call or a message away.

I hope you know that I’m glad that I knew you. I’m glad that for a little while, you were my person.

I hope you know that I miss you.

I hope you know that we’re grownups now, and the carousel never stops.

I hope you know that our friendship helped me grow as a person.

To end with a quote from "Wicked," “I don’t know if I’ve been changed for the better, but because I knew you I have been changed for good.”

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
