I, like any other college-aged girl, have binged and continue to watch 'Grey's Anatomy.' I laugh, I cry, I hate it, and I love it. However, I believe that some of the most famous "fan favorites" of the show are false.
So, here is my list of unpopular opinions about Grey's Anatomy:
1. Derek Shephard is overrated.
Yes, you read that right. Yeah, he is dreamy, but remember that he is not the sun. He got revenge on his cheating wife by, guess what, cheating on her. How original. Plus, he can't even choose between Meredith or Addison. From what I've learned from guys, never be an option, but his choice.
2. Mark and Lexie should've stopped way before their deaths.
I can imagine that if I were in Lexie's shoes during the aftermath of the plane crash, I would want to hear anything that would have calmed me and helped me pass peacefully, but I also wouldn't want my last moments on earth to be lies. But even before then, they knew it would never have worked out. They kept breaking up and getting back together and dating other people while together. It was too much to keep up with. Plus, they hurt more people than necessary.
3. I was glad when George was gone.
I LOVED George when I first met him on the show. However, as time went on, I began to hate him. Cheating on Callie with Izzy? I mean come on man! While I was very heartbroken about his death, I was so mad at him at the same time for everything he had done, and ultimately, I was relieved that all the drama with him was over with.
4. I never really liked any of Cristina's suiters.
Yang is a strong, independent woman who does not need a man. So why was she paired up with one? Yes, everyone needs love in their life, but I never felt that her lovers were suitable. I never thought Burke or Hunt were good enough for her. Sorry, not sorry.
5. I'm tired of Intern/Resident/Fellow relationships.
This is a workplace, people! The basis of this great love story revolves around an intern/fellow relationship, but does that mean we have to always have one, especially now that that relationship has come to an end? While I know that Murphy's HR report was a little bit too much, surely there are more protocols they must follow, right?
6. Izzie Stevens was the worst character on the show.
This may not be an unpopular opinion, but it's hard not to disagree on. She should have been kicked out of internship the moment she cut those wires. In fact, the moment she got involved with a patient, she should have been taken off of his case. Falling in and out of love with every man she met got to be annoying, and when things didn't go her way, it was even worse. Not to mention, she just abandoned Karev, a man who married her and took care of her dying, annoying, needy self.
7. Patient/Doctor relationships.
Speaking of which, why are these doctors lollygagging around with their patients? Where is Human Resources in this show??
8. Warren, choose your fate.
Ben, sweetie, I love you. I love you and Bailey and I don't want you to leave the show, but do me a favor: choose a career. I understand not being certain about your future and wanting to pursue different avenues sometimes, but honey I'm getting tired of it. And I know Miranda is too. Pick a career and stick with it. I bet career day was always fun for him.
9. It will always be Japril and never Jaggie.
I will not and will never accept Jackson with anyone else besides April. Sorry. I won't do it. But out of all of this, I most certainly will not accept Maggie and Jackson. I know this has become a big issue for viewers lately. I don't care that they aren't blood-relation, they are still related and that is enough for me, and millions of viewers out there too.
10. I like Post-Derek Meredith more.
Meredith is a strong, independent woman who doesn't need a man to prove her worth. And this is seen in Meredith's life after Derek's death. I loved them together once they finally worked everything out, but I also felt that she was belittling herself in order for Derek to succeed.
She gave up a career in Neuroscience so that Derek wouldn't get distracted and so that he could succeed. She's made more career progress since his death than ever before. It broke my heart that she lost her great love, but I am genuinely impressed and inspired by how she used her pain to save lives.
11. I want less drama.
The drama is interesting and I know that it keeps the show going, but it is also a little bit too much. This much drama does not happen to average people. These many bad things don't happen in Seattle, I hope. It's just a bit excessive at this point.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this show so much! It is one of my favorite shows ever. I just don't agree with everything everyone else does!
