From beloved children's books to a hit or miss movie, to a quirky TV show, "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events" has seen its fair share of both love and hate from fans of the acclaimed children's book series.
After the release of the movie, it would have been fair to assume the "A Series of Unfortunate Events" would not get another chance on the big screen. However, with a fresh take, new actors, and a beautiful set, Netflix has managed to create a nearly perfect world to draw the old fans back into the story of the Baudelaire orphans.
Season one of the new series debuted on January 13 of 2017. Receiving a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, it was obvious what a hit the show was.
In the first season, the show followed the story of the first four books in Lemony Snicket's series. Each book was given two, hour-long episodes, the first of which would usually end on a cliffhanger.
So what's in store for season two? Well, we can only assume we will be getting the story from four more of Lemony Snicket's books, leaving each book with a total of two hours of screen time. What books are next you ask?
Well we've got book five, "The Austere Academy," then "The Ersatz Elevator," "The Vile Village," and finally, "The Hostile Hospital."
It isn't often that you know much about a book from its title, but Lemony Snicket does a terrific job giving us just the right amount of information about the future perils of the Baudelaire children from his three-word titles.
In season two, there is no doubt in anyone's mind that we will get more hilarious one-liners from the story's sassiest character, Sunny Baudelaire.
Sunny's subtitles are some of the funnier lines in the show, even more so because whoever she is insulting cannot understand her. We often see Violet and Klaus just giggling in the background at whatever Sunny has said.
Clueless Mr. Poe is also something that will be returning for season two. What is frustrating to the Baudelaire children and a lucky break for Count Olaf is hilarious to fans.
The smarty-pants of the family, Klaus Baudelaire, will surely be giving some more of his long speeches, educating the adults around him on what's really going on.
Finally, possibly the best part of the show; Count Olaf's disguises. As fans of the show know, Count Olaf only has one goal in mind, he needs to steal the Baudelaire fortune. This becomes increasingly hard for him to do as he gets labeled a "terrible man" early on, and has a harder time getting close to the children.
However, he comes up with a nearly foolproof plan (at least where Mr. Poe is concerned). Each new episode of the show involves seeing Count Olaf dress in an array of different outfits, ranging from a sailor named Captain Sham - a bit on the nose - to an overly curvy woman, Shirley T. Sinoit- Pecer.
We can all be assured that Count Olaf has plenty of more comical disguises in store.
Season two will debut on Netflix on March 30th. Be ready for more incredible sets, comedy, and great narration from Patrick Warburton.
