Music is the ultimate escape route. Don't want to deal with the outside world? Put in earbuds and blast, any kind of music, really. It's all good. Whenever you are walking to class, you have your earbuds in. Whenever you are doing homework, you have earbuds in. Basically, anytime you can, your earbuds are on full force.
There is an outlet for every emotion: Sad? Listen to some Adele. Happy? Maybe some Walk The Moon. Angry? I would suggest Panic! at the Disco. There are people who want to sit down and talk about their feelings and vent about everything that is happening in their lives. For those of you who don't actually want to turn to anyone for anything, music's got your back.
If you are driving with your friend going somewhere, instead of talking, you turn of the radio on full blast and start singing at the top of your lungs. God help them if they try to start talking to you during your favorite song...it will not go over well.
You're that person that is consistently looking for concerts that are happening around you, and buying tickets in the spur of the moment. You are unbelievably skilled at logging into ticketmaster or livenation in record speed. Buying tickets for concerts is really stressful, throwing somebody in the mix trying to talk to you is not acceptable. It takes full concentration to get those front seats.
Instead of expanding your friend group, you are constantly expanding your music repertoire. You are always looking for new bands and artists. In your spare time, when you probably should be conversing with people, since you haven't done so in quite a few hours, there you are, sitting on your bed, browsing through Spotify.
Your music listening habits come before anything else. If you are playing your music too loudly and your roommate is annoyed, you begrudgingly turn it down, but inside you are plotting your revenge. Music just makes everything ten times more epic. Whereas doing your homework before left you alone with your thoughts and dread about your future because you are going to fail your test, now you can distract yourself from these negative thoughts with some pump up tunes.
Music is your memories. When you listen to a song and all the feels come rushing in from your childhood, it's a cathartic experience, for sure. You even have those little shower speakers so you don't have to part with your playlist for a minute. Your friends might give you a weird sideways glance when you begin to dance down the sidewalk to a song that is playing from a passing store.
Whatever your connection is to music, it is definitely the epitome of emotion and entertainment. Somedays when you have just had enough of people for one day, listening to some of your favorite artists clears your mind and prepares you for anything you may face. Human interaction can be hard, but music is always there like a warm hug to transport you to another world.
