With Winter Around The Corner, Here Are 10 Underrated Fall Songs To Listen To Before The Season Is Over

I love music. It doesn't matter what I'm doing, whether I'm studying, driving, working out, cooking, etc. I'll be listening to music. I don't really have a favorite genre in all honesty. However, I do have certain playlists for certain moods. Like when I'm working out I'm usually listening to rock music or rap. When I'm driving or laying in bed I'll usually listen to my indie playlists. I've even made playlists for certain seasons.

When creating my fall playlist, I didn't want to add in the basic and mainstream songs. Not saying those songs are bad because they're not. I just wanted to add in some unique songs, ones that not many people knew about. That is how this article came about. I wanted to share some of my favorite undiscovered gems with music lovers, in hopes that they would find their next favorite song too.

1. "Bloom" by The Paper Kites.

I've no joke had this song on repeat for days now I love it so much. Fun fact, I actually found this one from my roommate, who is a music lover like me. We were just sitting in her room and I loved it from the minute I heard it. Like the rest of the songs on this list, this one has indie vibes while also maintaining a peaceful atmosphere.

2. "Night Bus" by Lucy Rose.

I found this song from a Youtuber named Meghan Rienks. It was on one of her fall playlists on Spotify and I'm sad to say I can't remember which one. I just know that when I heard it, I had never heard of Lucy Rose. After listening to this song, I knew I needed to find more songs by her. Yet, this one still remains my favorite.

3. "All Those Pretty Lights (Alternate Universe Version)" by Andrew Belle.

This song was actually in a Youtube video by the same girl as the song above, Meghan Rienks. I think it was in one of her "Get Ready with Me" videos and in her Spotify playlist. I love this song because it's very peaceful and soothing to listen to. I actually put this song on loop when I'm getting ready for my day or when I'm writing. In fact, as I write this article now, I'm listening to this very song.

4. "into the wild" by Lewis Watson.

Whenever I listen to this song I imagine myself on a road trip to somewhere like the mountains. My hand on the wheel, nothing but glistening peaks in front of me. I also see myself sitting around a bonfire with friends eating marshmallows and staring at the stars. Talking about our lives, our futures, or whatever comes to mind. Definitely check this one out for sure if you want some imagery producing inspiration.

5. "Drive" by Oh Wonder.

I love Oh Wonder, always have and always will. I honestly can't think of any song by them I hate. My favorite song by them is "All We Do", but this one is a close second. Whenever I hear this song I always picture myself driving somewhere with the person I love. No destination in mind, only killing time and chasing lines.

6. "City Lights" by Brett Bixby.

Living in Charlotte, you see a lot of city lights for sure. This song resonates with me strongly because I feel that when we see city lights, we become blinded by their glitz and glory, that we don't see what's really there. Once you get out of the city part of Charlotte, you see that this city isn't just big skyscrapers and big business. It's so much more than that, so much more.

7. "We're Not Just Friends" by Parks, Squares and Alleys.

This song had some Phoenix and Empire of the Sun vibes to me. Probably the reason I liked it so much - it did have the vibes to it. Of all the songs on this list, this one stands out as being the most "indie" to me. Maybe you think the same as I do or perhaps differently?

8. " Rising Sun" by Prince of Spain.

Everything I've listened to by Prince of Spain is amazing. I'm not sure how much people know about this band but I have to say that they're amazing and I don't know why they aren't more popular. Another favorite besides this one is "Carelessly" ft. Dresses. Be sure to check that one out too.

9. "Change Your Ticket" by One Direction.

Yes I know, this is by One Direction who are sometimes deemed as overrated. However, this song is unlike anything I have ever heard from them. Honestly, when I first heard it I thought it was by The 1975. I've never even really been a big One Direction to start with so for me to like this song is saying something. Just listen to it, I promise you'll think differently after you hear it for yourself.

10. "Settle Down" by The 1975.

Okay, I wanted to put this one first if I'm being honest, but I didn't because I didn't think it was necessarily underrated too much. yet, this is my favorite song of all time and I never get tired of listening to it. First time I heard it was in a Vine edit (rest in peace) back in 2014, so to say I still love this song and haven't got tired of it is huge. I also love The 1975 and all their songs they produce. So if anyone needs a concert buddy, I will for sure be down.

Hopefully, this list has helped you find your new favorite song or give you the inspiration to go and find some for yourself. Good music is all around you and you never know how many undiscovered gems there truly are. Here is my "Fall Days" Spotify playlist for these songs and others alike. Happy listening!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
