Everyone knows the hype surrounding Disney Channel. It was the home of your favorite shows, movies and what you spent the most time talking about with your friends. (Hannah Montana's ultimate reveal of her true identity stayed a topic of conversation amongst my friend group for at least a solid week). When historic DCOMs came out, such as High School Musical or Camp Rock, it was us, little 4th graders, eagerly awaiting the premiere to air, bowls of popcorn out and friends by our sides.
Well, there are also some majorly underrated movies that I think deserve the limelight. Here is a compiled list of 10 of the most underrated DCOMs that will make you miss the Disney Channel even more:
1. The Suite Life Movie
An amazing action-packed sci-fi film with our two favorite childhood actors, Dylan and Cole Sprouse. An evil scientist that places them in an evil twin project is the main plot. If released in theaters, it probably wouldn't do the greatest, but the Sprouse twins and their classic "Suite Life" name made this movie one for the books.
2. Starstruck
Probably the one movie that I wished for a sequel for. The typical star-turned-nice guy that changes as a result of a girl who doesn't care about his fame. And the music is amazing.
3. Minutemen
Three guys in white snow-suits, a time machine, and Aly and AJ's hit song "Like Whoa"? What could be better?! That song will forever be stuck in my head, and this movie will forever be in my heart.
4. Read it and Weep
The classic Kay Panabaker stars in this movie, where her private journal becomes a best-selling novel and she becomes enveloped in the whirlwind of fame. Features disgusting pizza concoctions that nobody ever wants to try, and Jason Dolley, which is never a bad thing.
5. Cow Belles
This romantic comedy stars the Michalka twins as rich girls who go and work at their father's dairy farm. And, of course, there has to be a crime involved. Their father gets stolen from, and the girls have to figure out who it is. Michael Trevino just makes this cast an overall amazing-looking group of teenagers.
6. Cadet Kelly
Young Hilary Duff off to military school. This movie explains itself.
7. Princess Protection Program
Before the scandal and dramatic friendship split, this movie was a classic movie about a runaway princess living a normal life, and sucking at it.
8. Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior
Possibly one of the highest viewed DCOM, Brenda Song stars in this movie about a girl who discovers she is the reincarnated female martial arts warrior. Can't get any more realistic than this.
9. Hatching Pete
A third movie including Jason Dolley, obviously.
10. Jump In!
Saving #10 for my favorite all-time DCOM ever made. Who doesn't love Corbin Bleu, Keke Palmer, and crazy double-dutch tricks all compiled into one movie?!
And, just for kicks, a bonus #11:
11. Sky High
Yes, I know. While it isn't a DCOM, it is a Disney movie played on the Disney Channel. And I really couldn't resist the urge to not include this movie, because honestly, it is one of the classics that I could rewatch any day. Who wouldn't want to watch a movie about a superhero high school in the clouds that gets corrupted by an evil villain?
