Imagine that you are on a road and you come to a fork in it. The only way you can get off of it, is to pick a direction on which path you want to take. One path says rebuilding and saving lives and the other says fame and fortune.You are to choose what direction you want to take to get off the road with the fork.Which path do you choose? This story is about two people who both came to that fork in the road and the directions that they both chose and how it affected their lives.
Two guys named Steven and Jacob were driving down the road and they
both came to a fork in the road. They knew the only way they could get
off, was to choose a direction that they would take. The two directions
were identified with signs.One sign says: rebuilding and saving lives
and the other said fame and fortune. When Jacob came to the fork, he
decided he would take the path of rebuilding and saving lives. Steven
came to the same fork in the road and chose the path of fame and
fortune. Both guys were unaware on how it would totally change their
lives forever. Jacob was then on an adventure that would be full of
obstacles and challenges, while Steven was on a road to becoming a lead
singer in a major band.
As the guys went their ways, the challenges have just started. For Steven, on the road of fame and fortune was a challenge in itself and he was forgetting in what he believed in. Jacob on the other hand was on a walk of faith that involved bringing others to Christ. He came across a challenge that involved setting up bible studies and helping people rebuild their lives. Jacob was not sure exactly what he was doing, so he had some help from imagery of Paul and Peter that he read about in the bible that was with Jesus. Steven also had challenges approach him. On his journey he was tied up in rehearsals and trying to get big in the music world. He was getting caught up in the big world and fame was starting to rise. Unaware of the consequences. Steven was also getting caught up in letting it go to his head.Both of their lives were changed forever; by the two directions that they both chose to take and how it would impact the rest of their lives. Their journeys were just starting.
Time went on and Jacob was on the right path and helped rebuild so many lives. He helped bring so many people to Christ and even set up some non-profit organizations that give people a second chance at life. Through the organization she also helped find jobs for over 500 people within a three month time frame, and his faith became so much stronger through the challenges that he was facing.Steven's fortune was growing and he was ongoing tours on a regular basis. Steven was starting to break down and his faith was gone. Tours became very common, and he left everything to go on tour with this band that he joined. His health also became a struggle as the tours were longer and the lack of rest from being on tour.
A few years later Jacob then was faced with a challenge on his spiritual walk that he embraced when he chose the path of rebuilding and saving lives. Jacob was in a car accident and was paralyzed from the waist. He knew that he would beat the paralysis with God on his side, and some of the people that he helped rebuild their lives,showed up and offered to help him. Later that evening he received a call from Steven and that his band was going to be part of a charity event in the hospital that he was at. Jacob was enlightened to hear from Steven. After the charity event at the hospital the members of the band all went back to the hotel, except for Steven. He wanted to stay behind and have a conversation with Jacob. The two guys were having a deep conversation about the roads they have chosen,when they came to the fork in the road. Jacob was heartbroken to see Steven and to see how much of the fame and fortune that took a big toll on him.
Jacob had an idea.
The idea was that Steven would finish up the two night charity event in the hospital, and then come back to Jacob's room and then they would have a deep conversation about the paths that they both chosen when they came to the two directions that they have both chosen, and Steven was no longer wanting the fame and fortune. Steven has asked if Jacob would help Steven turn his life back around and help bring him back to God. Jacob was delighted to help bring Steven back and help him get on the road of Faith, and through the road that Jacob chose, rebuilding and saving lives, he was able to inspire Steven and get him on the road of faith.There are two directions in our lives that we have the option of choosing and the choice is ours. The choices are to follow Christ or follow the world. When you choose to follow Christ, it doesn't mean obstacles and trials will not come in life,but it makes it easier to know that somebody is really walking the path with us.
