I Used An Online Prompt Generator To Write A Weird Short Story And Here's What I Came Up With

For my article this week, I wanted to keep things upbeat and positive. Things have been tense lately and I thought something random may be fun. I took my chances and looked up a “writing prompt generator” on google. With this search, there were 1,210,000 results in .49 seconds. I picked one of the first options, clicked the random button on every question, and allowed it to create one of the strangest short stories I have ever read.

Here is that story:

"Two Courageous Uncles Singing To The Beat"

Lauren Devito looked at the enchanted ruler in her hands and felt confident.

She walked over to the window and reflected on her wild surroundings. She had always hated magical San Diego with its unlawful, unkempt umbrellas. It was a place that encouraged her tendency to feel confident.

Then she saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the figure of Daniel Ramsbottom. Daniel was a considerate hero with blonde ankles and charming legs.

Lauren gulped. She glanced at her own reflection. She was a gracious, down to earth, cocoa drinker with beautiful ankles and ginger legs. Her friends saw her as a pong, panicky painter. Once, she had even helped a rotten toddler cross the road.

But not even a gracious person who had once helped a rotten toddler cross the road was prepared for what Daniel had in store today.

The rain hammered like dancing ostriches, making Lauren stressed.

As Lauren stepped outside and Daniel came closer, she could see the quiet smile on his face.

Daniel gazed with the affection of 4739 bold helpful hummingbirds. He said, in hushed tones, "I love you and I want a wifi code."

Lauren looked back, even more stressed, and still fingering the enchanted ruler. "Daniel, get out of my house," she replied.

They looked at each other with sneezy feelings, like two grated, greasy giraffes shouting at a very witty dinner party, which had indie music playing in the background and two courageous uncles singing to the beat.

Lauren regarded Daniel's blonde ankles and charming legs. "I feel the same way!" revealed Lauren with a delighted grin.

Daniel looked puzzled, his emotions blushing like a stormy, sad sandwich.

Then Daniel came inside for a nice mug of cocoa.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
