After a few months of being trapped inside because of cold weather, television gets a little monotonous and we're all happy to see some fresh new frames on the screen. Here is a list of a few television shows to be excited about, and if you've already seen some of them, here is a reminder of what's coming back into your life in the next few months.
"The Ranch" on Netflix (Series Premiere)
The series has just been released! The dream team of executive producers Don Reo ("Two and Half Men," "My Wife and Kids") and Jim Patterson ("Two and a Half Men," "Mike and Molly") just released this new Netflix Original reuniting Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson of "That 70's Show." The main character, played by Kutcher, is a semi-pro football player who is returning to a ranch to lend a helping ranch hand to his brother in the family business.
The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Season 2)
Kimmy Schmidt was a huge Netflix Original hit last year. The comedy focuses on a woman who is in her late 20's who had spent the last 15 years of her life underground because she, along with a few other women her age and one older, Latina woman, were kidnapped by a manipulative, delusional cult leader who convinced them that the apocalypse had happened and they were the only survivors.
The first episode shows the women being rescued by a S.W.A.T. Team and follows with a season showing how the “Mole Women” have adapted to the world of the 2010's and facing their kidnapper in court. Side note: The identity of the kidnapper is unknown until the last few episodes while they're in a vicious legal battle... you'll be shocked to find out what actor plays him.
Fear The Walking Dead (Season 2)
The spinoff of the zombie-apocalypse drama had a solid start last year. While "The Walking Dead" is set in the midst of the zombie-apocalypse, this spinoff is set in the beginning of the blood-and-guts ridden era. If you're a fan of the apocalyptic fad that the television and movie industry has been in for the past several years, this one's for you.
Game of Thrones (Season 6)
If you haven't heard of this show in the past few years, you've probably been living under a rock. The adaptation of George R.R. Martin's fantasy book series "A Song of Ice and Fire", focuses on a few families fighting for...you guessed it...the iron throne of the seven kingdoms. The series has won a litany of awards for its acting, character development, plot, scope and production. It also set a record for most award wins in a single year.
Not to mention, GoT has attracted record numbers of viewers on HBO and has a ridiculous amount of international fans. With that great success comes great criticism, the show has gotten a significant amount of criticism as well because of the abundant nudity within scenes. Regardless, the plot is phenomenal and this show is arguably the greatest show on television, and you should be excited.
Regardless of your taste in television, at least after reading this, you have a list of shows to check out the next time you're stuck inside on a rainy day.
