1. One Tree Hill

This show literally changed my life. When I was younger and I first started watching it, I realized how much I wanted to be on a television show just like it. This is one of my most distinct memories of me deciding I wanted to be an actress. The show gives you that teenage experience that you always craved. The show is set in the fictional Tree Hill, North Carolina as half-brothers Nathan and Lucas battle it out on the basketball court. One Tree Hill has fantastic characters that you immediately latch on to, it also helps that everyone on the show is stunning. It is not just another teen drama I promise…although nine seasons, it is definitely worth the watch.

2. The 100

I read the books the series is based off, written by Kass Morgan, and I was SO excited that it was being turned into a TV show. After a nuclear apocalypse destroyed the world, the surviving population lives in space but their ship is dying. In order to save oxygen, one hundred teenaged prisoners are sentenced to earth to see if it is survivable. Down there, they encounter a world as they've never seen before. This show has so many twists and turns and these characters are so badass. After rewatching it with all of my family members (multiple times) I was really able to see the insane character development that everyone goes through. If you love sci-fi and adventure, this is a good show for you.

3. Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl is One Tree Hill but in New York City and with a LOT more money. The scandalous lives of the Upper East Siders are exposed as secrets are posted to an anonymous website called gossip girl. These well dressed teenage New Yorkers have more drama in their lives than just about anyone I know. Friendships are tested and lies are revealed (guaranteed especially on every Thanksgiving episode). I love this show for many reasons, the first being the actors and their fabulous costumes. The second is because this is another one of those shows that solidified my idea of being an actor. Although overdramatic, everyone loves these types of shows, and this is a classic for my generation.

4. New Girl

You cannot go wrong with New Girl ever, I would say its a better/newer version of Friends. The twenty-two-minute episodes surround Jess (Zooey Deschanel) who, after a bad break up, moves into a loft with three wildly different guys. Each episode is a peek into their quirky lifestyle and allows the audience to see what true friendship is. This is a show that you can always turn on and watch whatever episode you feel like (My favorite: S2 E15). I promise New Girl will never fail to make you happy, it is especially good to watch when you have a lot going on and you need a little break.

5. The Vampire Diaries

I never understood the hype about vampire stuff until with this show, my oh my where to start…how about you should just watch it solely for Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder). My mom (who I forced to watch, although it didn't take much convincing) likes to always say that all the characters are so beautiful but also so expendable. It's One Tree Hill but with vampires and higher stakes. This show takes you through so many emotions and the memes and tweets about the show might be even better. This is a very iconic series, a must-watch if you're a girl.

6. That 70s Show

Set in the decade that I always wished I lived in, an eclectic friend group goes through the trials and tribulations of being a teenager. With the help of some great music, groovy outfits, and weed we get to see these kids grow up in such a fascinating time. I love this show because, like New Girl, you can always put it on. It's goofy, nostalgic, and has a great cast. If you haven't seen it by now, you're missing out.

7. The Magicians

Magic is real and Brakebills University is the place to study it. As tragedy strikes, a group of twenty-somethings sees the world differently as they discover how to use magic and how to save the world. This show is really amazing. It portrays magic in a different way with many more idiosyncrasies that stir the pot. Since the characters are older (grad students), the show is more mature and raunchy which just makes for good TV. If you love sci-fi shows, this is one that's "off the beaten path."

8. Imposters

This is a show that not many people have heard of but it is certainly a good one. This show centers around beautiful con artist Maddie, who makes rich men fall in love with her only to steal all of their money and leave them after thirty days of being married. But when her past and future assignments come crumbling down, the story gets a whole lot more intense. It's a short show but very good, it always keeps you on edge and has such amazing characters.

9. Limitless

Based off of the movie Limitless, with Bradley Cooper, comes a spin-off that you never want to end. When down-on-his-luck Brian (Jake McDorman) is introduced to NZT-48, a pill that you can access every part of your brain with, his life shifts in the craziest direction when he starts to work at the FBI to help them solve cases. This show would not be as good without McDorman, his adorable geeky stoner character is so entertaining to watch and his acting is fantastic. Although only one season, it is still worth the watch.

10. Fosse/Verdon

Fosse/Verdon is, in my opinion, one of the best-directed TV shows of all time. I just rewatched it with my parents and I was continuously blown away every episode. Taking place over five decades comes a TV show about Bob Fosse, a legendary Broadway choreographer, director, and filmmaker, and Gwen Verdon who is known as one of the greatest Broadway dancers in history. This show explores how much the two need and depend on each other in the professional world creatively, but also in their personal relationships. These two changed the world.
