A little turtle,
So sweet, so innocent
Crawled aimlessly
Across a bare grey stone.
But that is merely what others see
Perhaps in the turtle’s eyes
that stone is a throne
which signifies his hierarchy
over the forest creatures below.
Perhaps the turtle has bigger plans.
Aspirations which could someday
Take over the world,
And doom us to turtle tyranny.
Imagine our world being ruled
By a little turtle.
It could be good or bad,
Because the mind of a turtle is unknown.
Humans best beware,
For the turtle may get bored,
And overthrow the president
Or something like that.
Don’t let him fool you,
The innocence is a disguise.
Appearing to be naïve
Is the turtle’s greatest weapon.
He may be slow on land,
But he'd rise up quick to power,
Because no one expects
A cute little turtle
To have such devious plans.
*evil laugh*
This poem was inspired by both my love of turtles as well as a travel mug I recently got. It has a cute turtle drawn on it, and on the mug is written “What’s on your mind little turtle?” and the turtle is saying “world domination” with the cutest little smile. There is no hidden meaning to this poem, but if it makes you excited to connect it to current events, go ahead, go crazy with it.
