Turn Your Dreams into Plans

What are your biggest and wildest dreams?

Do you call them dreams because they feel unattainable?

Why haven't you made plans to accomplish your dreams?

Or have you, and they just haven't worked out?

I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted in life but always felt like it wasn't possible. I needed more money and more time (who doesn't?).

I wanted to build a house on a lake.

I wanted to be the ruler of my time, my vacation days and my pay.

After spending a few years dabbling with all the random ways you can make money online (online surveys, referrals, bookkeeping, etc.), I realized I would likely have to become an entrepreneur in order to make any real money.

This was scary to me at the time but after assessing my dreams and how to accomplish them, I decided I wanted to be an entrepreneur!

So here I am, on a mission to catch (not just chase) my dreams because I don't want to live any other way.

I think so many of us have settled with the way society portrays a normal life. Go to school, get a decent job, get married, buy a house, have some babies, work until 65 and then retire. If you can accomplish all these things you should be happy, right?

But I refuse to settle for mediocrity.

Instead I'm making big plans. Plans to accomplish my dreams and if I can do it, you can too.

Check out my guide below that offers some questions and things to think about when creating your plan.

How to Turn Dreams into Plans

Follow the questions below to help you brainstorm and create a plan. Try writing down your responses and everything that comes to mind with these questions. The more you write down, the more you will be able to see patterns and make better plans.

  1. Assess what your dreams are. Write them down. Can they be accomplished? Unless your dreams include super powers, they can likely be accomplished.
  2. What has held you back from chasing these dreams in the past? How can you get over this hurdle? Write down all of the setbacks you can think of and ways you could eliminate or minimize these hurdles.
  3. What items need to be accomplished before you can begin to tackle or plan out your dreams? Write these down.
  4. In what time frame would you like to accomplish these dreams? 1 year? 10 years? What time frame is realistic?
  5. Create a game plan to tackle all the items in #3. (Ex. In January I'm going to research ways to make money online. In February I will decide which option best suites my needs. In March I am going to begin working with this option). Write down your smaller plans and when you will be accomplishing these. Make sure to assign a time frame otherwise these plans can fade from sight.
  6. Continue to create plans and goals that keep you moving towards your dream. You could set 3-5 goals for each month or week depending on the size of goals and time frame you are working with.
  7. Lastly, do not give up! Making your dreams come true takes time and work. Even if it seems like things are not working out, do not quit. You might be right around the corner from a major breakthrough. Try making a list of affirmations relevant to the goals you are trying to tackle. Say these affirmations 15 times each morning and evening.

Pursuing your dreams is so important in life. You only have a certain amount of time on this planet and it is extremely important to spend it doing whatever sets your soul on fire.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
