Trusting God In Challenging Times

Do not be afraid, God will stand with you amidst the uncertainty in today's world.

Bible

There have many times in my life where I feel broken and I don't know what to do. I sometimes have a hard time turning to God with my problems—like my depression, anxiety, and worries. It has taken me a long time from being so far away from God, wondering if He even exists, to get to the point of where I am now. He has comforted me in ways that I didn't even know was possible. He has helped turn my anxious thoughts around, and when I have a negative views of myself (I feel that I'm ugly, not worth anything, I'm not loved) God shows me that the Devil is talking and that I have to try to block that out. For me, reading bible verses and praying, has helped my confidence tremendously. I know and feel God's presence in and around me. I know for a fact that God is with me. I know that He loves and cares for me. Even though there are times when I don't feel that I am worth anything, I try to remind myself that He is in my corner and that I am loved unconditionally.

Amidst the pain, suffering, uncertainty, and challenges you may be having, God is standing with you.

During this time with COVID-19 going around, it's hard to not be fearful. Even though the death toll continues to rise, as well as the number of confirmed cases, we should not be afraid.

God tells us not to fear and to put our trust in Him. There are many instances in the Bible where it talks about the Earth crumbling. But those who believe in Him, shouldn't fear.

Isaiah 60:2 says, "Behold! Darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you."

Psalm 91: "A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but danger will not come near you. You will only [be a spectator as you] look on with your eyes and witness the [divine] repayment of the wicked [as you watch safely from the shelter of the Most High]. Because you have made the Lord, [who is] my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your tent. For He will command His angels in regard to you, to protect and defend and guard you in all your ways [of obedience and service].They will lift you up in their hands, so that you do not [even] strike your foot against a stone."

These are my favorite verses that I have recognized that relate to our situation in the world right now. It is so comforting to know that our Lord will protect us, no matter what happens here on Earth. Right now we don't know when this virus will go away. We don't know what is in store for our country, our jobs, our families, etc. However, I do know that when you put God first, He will protect you.

If you have depression, anxiety, other health issues, or any other worries that you may have, I promise you that turning to God can bring you peace. I've turned away from God a lot, but I know that He will take care of me and you too. My favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:1: "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you, and not to harm you, but to give you hope and a future."

If you want a relationship with God, just pray. There is no wrong or right way. Even if you don't know what to say, God already knows. But turning to Him will be the one thing that can help you and the World.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
