The world of makeup has definitely expanded in the last few years. All the advertisements, "beauty gurus," and insta-models have taken the internet by storm, making loads of money through sponsorships and putting foundation on just to take it off twenty minutes later. Unfortunately, many, many people are incredibly upset by this. Why? I'm not sure, but if anyone figures it out, let me know.
Me, personally, I love wearing and doing makeup. I love putting it on myself and my friends, and I love trying out new products when I get the chance. Ulta, Target, and Sephora are some of my favorite places (not so much for my bank account, but that's another story), and I love watching YouTube beauty videos in my spare time. I even have a makeup inspired Instagram (shameless promo: @_makeupbysami). But still, I'm sure there's someone that is totally bothered by this.
What other people do to their faces is none of your business, as long as it isn't causing you physical or emotional pain. That's great that you don't know how to contour your face but take wonderful care of your kids, because I'm sure the mom that does contour takes wonderful care of her kids, too. Being able to do your makeup does not deter your ability to do mundane tasks or raise a family, but if that's how you feel, I guess I can't change your mind this easily.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but disliking someone or being angry at someone for doing something so simple as knowing how to do a smokey eye is ridiculous. With all of the hate going around in the world and on the internet, it's easier to keep your opinion to yourself rather than make someone feel bad for wearing fake lashes to class.
The same goes for people who don't wear makeup as well. If someone doesn't like wearing eyeshadow or getting their brows done, who cares? It certainly won't hinder your life as a passerby, so let the person live.
I love the funny videos of people doing a bad job on their makeup on purpose to get a few likes, but there's no reason to bash someone for wanting to beat their face for a career or a hobby. I don't see you complaining when you're asking for your nails or makeup done for a special event, so let us makeup wearers live in peace. There's no reason to be bothered by someone wearing eyeshadow when there are people starving in the world. If we channeled our anger into something worthwhile, I think the world would be a much better place.
