In case you thought that Donald Trump couldn't get any crazier, earlier this week, President Trump released a video series on his personal Facebook which he calls "real news." The web series, featuring his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, highlights all of the president's accomplishments while taking office. This comes in response to Trump's endless battle against mainstream media and "fake news;" or any news story that depicts him negatively.

It's no secret that some news media sources are more biased than others. Fox News and CNN are both completely guilty for broadcasting their bias for the world to see. But something about any government figure, let alone the president, broadcasting "real news" that only highlights the positives of that person is extremely uncomfortable. Government control over the mainstream media is modern brainwashing; and a violation of the First Amendment.

While "fake news" is a real problem, it's not mainstream media that is producing it. It is the rise of click bait articles with no accurate facts from an accredited news website. Stories like these often appear on social media and spread like wildfire on people's personal pages. Like this one about a conspiracy theory that Justin Bieber is actually a giant lizard.

Whether or not it's a brainwash attempt or Trump is actually too insecure to handle criticism, the "fake news" attack on mainstream media really needs to come to an end. If you don't like a particular TV channel, then just turn it off.
