Here's Everything You Missed At Sun City Music Festival 2017

This year's Sun City Music Festival was a huge success for Disco Donnie and SMG Events. Each day was filled with huge crowds, amazing music, and great vibes. The festival took place on Labor Day weekend, September 2nd & 3rd at Ascarate Park in El Paso, Texas.

There were three stages at the festival: Main Stage, Midnight Oasis, and Beatport. Tents at the event provided food from different restaurants, merchandise, free water, photo booths, etc. VIP areas were on both sides of the Main Stage for 21+ attendees. Also, special thanks to Rukes for the amazing photo coverage of the festival. It's always a pleasure seeing his work.

Day 1

The first day of SCMF had performances by artists Louis the Child, Ookay, Seven Lions, NGHTMRE, Slushii, SAYMYNAME, Herobust, Bonnie X Clyde and more. Marshmello closed out Day 1 on the Main Stage and brought out Khalid as a special guest for their new song 'Silence.' I'm sure everyone has heard the song but if you haven't, definitely go give it a listen! Khalid, being from El Paso, brought an amazing vibe to help end Day 1 on a perfect note.

Seven Lions closed out Day 1 at the Midnight Oasis stage. His set was filled with some bangers, psy-trance, and feels. His visuals were like entering a whole new world. His song "Rush Over Me" in collaboration with Illenium and Said The Sky had the crowd in awe. The fireworks went off when he dropped "World's Apart" and if you had a significant other or "rave bae" you know how beautiful that moment was.

Slushii threw down a great set, dropping banger after banger. The crowd was hyped the entire time and there was no time to stop dancing to take a break. Did I mention how fun it was when he dropped Chodegang and Planet Purge? Slushii, once again, you grabbed the crowds attention with your set and singing.

How about Joyryde though? Two words for you: amazing & fun. His set brought out all of the shufflers, myself included. I've seen him play before but this was by far my favorite set he gave the crowd. What more could you want when you're listening to great music and spreading amazing vibes with your group of friends?

Day 2

I asked people from the festival which day was their favorite. Each of them had told me Day 2 was their favorite. There were performances from artists Illenium, Rezz, Snails, Drezo, Tchami, and more. Above & Beyond closed out the final day at the Main Stage and these special fans had the beautiful moment of pushing the button.

If you weren't at A&B, you must have been at Borgore who closed out at the Midnight Oasis stage. His set was definitely one of the most memorable. He played many throwbacks and the classic "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers. If you were there, you can agree your entire body was sore the next day. SCMF was a part of his Blasphemy Tour, so if you didn't catch him there, make sure to check out his tour dates for upcoming shows!

Space mom put on one hell of a show. "Because the nicest thing about hypnosis is that wonderful feeling of physical and mental relaxation that can now spread through your entire body." Rezz's visuals were indeed unique and trippy. It was her first time performing at Sun City and she was welcomed with the good vibes of the crowd. If you saw her set, you can agree you were in a state of hypnosis.

Illenium had many people in the crowd crying (if you saw a girl sobbing uncontrollably during and after his set, that was me). Have you ever smiled during a set because you were genuinely happy and it feels like all of your problems have disappeared? That's how Illenium makes you feel. He played new music for the crowd, one song with Kill The Noise. He dropped one of his new released songs "Crawl Outta Love" that had everyone singing at the top of their lungs. Let me just say... amazing.

Thank you to Disco Donnie and SMG Events for putting on another amazing festival. Each year, SCMF has an amazing turnout. If you didn't make it to this year, next year is definitely the move! For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
