There are thousands of kids costumes now.
Since there are so many options, it's easy for parents to become overwhelmed especially when every kid wants to wear something different. Whether it's your first Halloween or your fifth, I've compiled a list of classic costumes that always score points.
1. The Pumpkin
This one is used mostly for baby's first Halloween. Most babies are little, adorable, pudgy things so the pumpkin helps to emphasize the cuteness. Add an orange dot of face paint on their nose and you've completed the classic look. Who doesn't love a smiling little pumpkin?
2. The Prince
If you've got a little boy, you know the struggle in getting them to wear anything that you actually want them to wear. First they'll want to be a robot, then a turtle, then a race car or a dinosaur. Basically, their mind changes every thirty seconds as they go through the list of things that they love the most. It inevitably leads to some form of melt down, whether it be tantrum or silent treatment, when you run through the list of things that they can actually be. The Prince, or King, if they want is a great costume to go with. This way they can feel like they're in charge but you also get your little "Prince Charming" into something easy.
3. The Princess
On the opposite side of the coin, if you have a little girl. Chances are at some point they're going to want to be a princess. Even if they chosen one previously, there are so many princesses to choose from that you'll never run out. Plus, the pictures will be super cute and if you have another little going as a prince they'll make the perfect pair.
4. The Lion
This one is another one for baby's first Halloween. Since the pumpkin can feel a little played out, the lion is a great alternative. The furry mane and the little fluffy tail helps to increase the cuteness factor. It also gives you as a parent a few options to dress up as, such as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. That way you can enjoy Halloween as much as your little one.
5. The Witch
If you can convince your little girl to step away from the princess costumes, a witch is a good alternative. This one allows for a little bit more creativity since you can make the witch look hundreds of different ways. As long as you have a pointy hat and a broom included, everyone will know what she's supposed to be. Just hope she chooses to be a good witch.
6. The Pirate
This one is good for either gender as pirates come in all shapes and sizes. Combine a frilly shirt, some loose pants, boots, an eye patch and you have yourself a true pirate. With either you can include fun accessories, like a captain's hat, a fake beard or a little fake parrot to sit on your little's shoulder.
