A Ficus tree has a strong personality and can make a great companion. If it is sad it will let you know, but if it is happy it won't hold back. Like people, there are many different kinds of Ficuses, and like a teenager, Ficuses can become easily stressed. In particular, if you adopt a Ficus and bring it home, it is very likely to have some difficulty adjusting to its new home. This is where you must be attentive to your new friend.
It enjoys physical interaction, and it quite enjoys when you wipe down its rich green leafs. You also want to make sure you have a nice room for your Ficus buddy. They do enjoy the sun, but they most like to live in consistent temperatures between 65 and 75 degrees. So when you are finding friend Ficus a cozy spot you'll want to make sure that it is not near any vents or fans that will mess with the temperature around it because it will get chilly. And if your friend Ficus does get chilly, too hot, hungry, thirsty, or lonely it will get sad, and when this happens, friend Ficus will let go of some of its leafs or change the color of its leafs. And this is very sad and we don't want this to happen, so let's do the right thing and be a good partner to our friends the Ficuses.
I want to find a Ficus: a baby Ficus in particular. I want to live with this Ficus and watch it grow up. Is this strange? It certainly may sound strange, but don't worry, it's not. Ficuses, forever!
