Traveling While You Live Abroad.

"The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience." -Eleanor Roosevelt

The best way to fullfill this quote is to travel, to explore new places, and to go on adventures. This is what I have been trying to do since moving abroad. I have been living abroad for almost six months now and I travel around the country as much as I can. I would honestly suggest that to anyone who lives abroad, don’t stay in one location and don’t worry about money there are always cheap ways to travel you just have to find them.

There are several reasons that I suggest that people travel around the entire country while they are living abroad. The first reason is to explore all the food. Let’s face it, I am such a huge foodie and I think that you should travel to places and discover the food that they have there. I travel to find the best western food. Thus far I have found, Mexican, Italian, Sushi, Indian, and Sandwiches. I have found places with good milkshakes, ice cream, cookies, and brownies. I am still trying to find some good Chinese and Thai food. I believe this to be important because you are always going to become homesick and crave food from home, I now find most of the foods that I crave within a few hours so that I could get there and be back home by the end of the evening.

Another reason is because there is so much to see in the country, so many beautiful things that if you don’t travel you won’t see what the country has to offer. It would be very sad if you didn’t travel around the country you were living in and you didn’t see what it has to offer. I have fallen deeper in love with a country that I thought I couldn’t love more just because I have been to a few new places. I can’t tell you how incredible that is, to fall deeper in love with a country due to the striking beauty that is all around.

Another reason to travel is to experience the different cultures within the country. Just like America most countries have several different cultures that are built in and if you stay in your one location you’ll never get to explore the other cultures that make up your country.

Let me say this before I finish up, travel around the country doesn’t mean you have to do expensive touristy things that will take all of your money. Just go find a delicious place to eat, a beautiful cheap place to hike, or just an area to explore. Traveling around to see the country doesn’t mean you have to spend copious amounts of money.

If you don’t live abroad I suggest you explore America as well, for the same exact reasons you would explore if you were living abroad. America is beautiful, has several cultures to offer, several delicious types of food to discover and much more. This is me telling you know matter where you live explore, find new places, and enjoy the country you live in and see what it has to offer. I can honestly tell you that you won’t regret that decision. Traveling is one of the best things you could ever do. If I only stayed in my village and at my school I wouldn't have ever seen how beautiful this country is.

"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page." -St. Augustine

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
