Going aboard makes for some super funny moments. And I have 4 of them to share with you. Don’t think you can’t go abroad without having those funny moments that keep you on your feet.

1.Car gets stolen without warning.

The last thing you want to know is how your car gets stolen, and you can’t help but laugh because you still have the car keys to it. And people’s faces when you tell them your car got stolen and still traveling! We we in our 2 week of DTS outreach in Rome and we had to park the car far away from are hostel (a 9-seat van doesn’t fit in a city very well). So we had someone help us as to where to park it for the week because we were going to use public transportation or just walk. Well we didn’t need to check on it the whole week so when our week was over our staff went to go get the car. There was no trace of the car not even glass on the ground. We thought it was towed because we didn’t know if we parked it where it shouldn’t have been. But the place had no report of it, so the car was a planned steal. Professional people that new what they where doing took our car and vanish.

2. MISCOMMUNICATION.

People shouldn't underestimate traveling with a big group, you are bound to miscommunication and fall into laughter. You realize half your group either missed the train or didn’t get on the metro in time and than you all turn to each and say “Miscommunication” in a weird high voice!

3. When someone in Greece wants to marry you.

Don’t underestimate your light skin! Down in Greece I had guys left and right wanting to marry me, and I couldn’t help but laugh. Then people tell you it’s only because your American! That’s their ticket to a good place America.

4. English goes blurry.

When you start talking or at least trying to figure out another country's language you forget how to speak your own. I can’t stop asking people where the toilet is instead of the bathroom. And to get a strange look from them is so embarrassing.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
