In today's society, transgender people are making their appearance well known. One of the biggest names in the transgender community, in my opinion, is Caitlyn Jenner, formally Bruce Jenner. I believe they should have the same rights as everybody else. The most recent right they are fighting for is the right for them to use the bathroom in the bathroom they identify themselves as. Which makes me uneasy for a number of reasons.
The first reason I feel transgender people should have their own restrooms with stalls like normal ones, is because of potential predators. A man who is a predator could argue he identifies himself as a woman, therefore it is only right for him to use the woman's restroom? What if he goes in there and your daughter is in there? I am not sure about you, but just that thought makes me extremely uncomfortable. I understand he could walk in there now anyway, if he wanted too, I just feel it would happen more if we allowed individuals who identify as female to use our same bathrooms. I do agree everyone should be treated the same, that is why I feel they should have normal bathrooms like we have, transgender women's bathroom and transgender men's bathroom. I feel that would keep everyone's mind and heart at ease knowing that a sexual predator will not walk in posed as a woman. I also feel this would be a safer way because what if a transgender woman has to use the men's bathroom because she is biologically a man, but when she goes in dressed as a woman, she gets beaten? Who should live in fear of their life? No one.
I have so much respect for the LGBT community because I feel it takes someone truly brave to stand up against the taught "norm" and say they are different. Once they come out they sometimes receive threats, which honestly blows my mind. It is 2016, and we as a nation need to come together and start treating all of our people with respect, but at the same time, you have to think of possible scenarios like the predator in the bathroom, but you also want everybody to feel normal and safe. Let's stand together and make transgender bathrooms. We have to think of our children's future and their safety because they are the future of America and what they see happening around them is what they will grow to appreciate or fear. Transgender individuals deserve their own bathroom for privacy and safety reasons.
