Have you ever wondered what other literary wonders may be hiding right under your nose? If so, check out this year's edition of The Tower. Have you never heard of it before? The Tower can be explained by its vision statement that was composed last semester by its two Editor in Chiefs Joanna Jensen and Marah Walker, who state,

"Containing 144 pages of art and literature, this edition of The Tower is the most expansive collection that we have published to date. Our featured artists and writers are students who range from freshman to seniors. They’re STEM majors and humanities majors. They are candid and honest about their struggles with mental health. They showcase their complicated love of family. They’re inspired by everything––and we mean everything; inside these pages you’ll find work about cemeteries, potted plants, the power of female friendships, the twisted web of university life, and so much more. Thank you to all of the students on campus who shared their words, stories, and ideas. They truly make all of this possible. "

The Tower unveils this year's edition on Thursday, April 19, at its launch party which will be hosted at the Weisman Art Museum from 6-8 pm.

This year The Tower has again partnered with the Weisman Art Museum and the Creative Writing Program in the Department of English for the ArtWords competition. The 2018 ArtWords competition is for both graduate and undergraduate students in which they compose a written response to a piece of artwork that is featured in WAM's permanent collection. Authors who are selected by the panel of judges are awarded prizes and have the opportunity to publish their work; and special this year, any undergraduate students selected will be featured on the back of The Tower.

The word out there is that there are fantastic submissions of all kinds this year, so you won't want to miss your chance to check out all the hard work that was put into The Tower this year. Join the staff members and fellow students for a special night of literary work this upcoming Thursday. They will be handing out free copies and free refreshments are included!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
