Tourist Takes On Downtown Annapolis

Over Spring Break, I stayed with one of my friends in Severna Park, MD. Her being super interested in government, us and a couple other friends all ventured down to Annapolis to sit in on a General Assembly Session. When she said she wanted to go to this session thing, I had absolutely no idea what she was talking about. I'm a science major so I really don't know much about government, only enough to get through the political debates across the dinner table at thanksgiving. Anyway, she explained all this to me and basically what I picked up from it was that we were just gonna watch a bunch of delegates argue about some bills that they were trying to get passed. Honestly it was eye opening since I really had no insight on this whole process. Savannah, the friend I was staying with, was on the edge of her seat the entire time listening to every single word the delegates had to say. Then there was Anna and I, who were just trying to decipher some of the codes they were yelling about.

After about 3 hours of sitting in the nose bleed section of this room we left and adventured downtown Annapolis to see some of the shops and food places. We ate at Chick & Ruth's which is a deli/bakery/hotel all in one. Walking in, it was super tiny and crammed so I was not expecting the amazing food that they set in front of me. After eating, we went back to meet some of the delegates and introduce our selves. Savannah and Tom had worked in the offices as interns and pages so they went and said hi to all their bosses. It was such a great experience meeting all the different people, especially when they were very personable and invited us to sit in on other sessions.

And of course, to top off the amazing day we had to get a picture with Louis L. Goldstein. I mean our school does have a building named after him. "God Bless You All Real Good"

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
