Dear America...

To The Losers Who Did Not Vote

To those who voted for trump:

- Thank you for voting. You are not the fan of half of America, yet you did what was your constitutional right. You took advantage of an opportunity your ancestors fought for, and you voted. You have strong opinions. You want big changes to be made. And you did something about it. While I do not stand with you, I hope for the best that it works out. I don't hate you. I don't agree with you, but I don't hate you. We are allowed to disagree, and that is what makes the country we both live in so great. We are allowed to have our own voice. I hope you are making a positive change and you do not regret it. I really, really, hope you get all you wanted out of this change that you expect.

To those who voted for Hillary:

-Thank you for voting. Whether you think you chose the lesser of two evils, you were supporting minorities, or you wanted to align your morals with those of the government, you did something. If you were a woman, you voted for the first of your kind to ever have a chance at becoming the president, and that is quite special. I stand with you. When my grandmother was born, women were not allowed to vote. Last week, I voted for the first woman candidate the first time I ever voted. That, in itself, is revolutionary. I am so lucky for so many reasons. I cannot express how lucky I feel to have been born in a time and place where I am allowed to matter. Don't give up hope just because things did not go your way. You tried, and you did something about it. Teach your children the way you feel, and encourage others like you to not give up hope in seeing a world the way you want it to be seen.

To those who did not vote:

What is wrong with you? How can you be so stupid? You bring shame to the entire country, and it's a slap in the face. Our country has come SO far. We are SO lucky that we have democracy. We are SO lucky we get an opportunity to voice our opinion. There is no reason or excuse why you cannot take advantage of this. You matter.

The ones who are upset with the results:

You better be keeping to yourselves. You have no right to express disappointment with the results if you did not voice your opinion. If you were healthy enough to get yourself to the polls, or able to simply fill out an absentee ballot, there is no reason you should not have voted. You are foolish. And I do not want to hear a word from you. I hope you can learn that every voice does count, and that no matter how much you think otherwise, collectively, you all matter.

The ones who are indifferent:

I hope that you can turn on the news. I hope that you can learn to read up on simple policies and gather an opinion. I want you to have an opinion. I want you to use your mind and choose a side. I want you to vote next chance you get, because you deserve to have an opinion.

Thank you, America, for allowing us all to have rights. Thank you for being a place where we are allowed to make our voice mean something.

America, you are great.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
