By the end of the semester, college students cannot wait to go home, but then we get home and are usually bored out of our minds. We always make these grand and elaborate plans to see all of our friends during the summer, but then we realize how empty our bank accounts really are. The majority of our summer is spent working and trying to save up money, so boredom and working become our new summer plans. While being home is great for the free/good food, showers you don’t have to wear flip flops in, and no exams/homework/classes, there are some things that many college students miss when they go home for the summer.
1. Being 10 feet or less away from your friends at all times.
When you go home, your friends are now a car ride away and now you have to actually call them to make plans instead of just walking down the hall, knocking on their door and hanging out.
2. Then, there is always something to do.
When you're home for the summer, your go-to for when you’re bored is to watch TV, but when you’re bored at school, there is always someone down to play in the quad or the college is always having some kind of activity going on.
3. Having complete freedom.
Now that we are in college, our parents are pretty chill with letting us go out and hang out with friends when we want. But you still have to check in with them so they know where you are. At college, your parents are not around so they do not need to know where you are at all times and I'm sure they do not want to know everything you do up at college.
While we all know "there is no place like home," there is also no place like being at college. College is the place were hanging out with friends is easy and you can really let loose. As much as people enjoy being home because whats better than your mother's cooking and waking up to see your pets every morning, there really is not anything better than your college years. They really are some of the best years of your life.
