1. San Francisco

San Francisco is such an interesting city. There are so many facets to this place and so much to explore. For the quintessential San Fran experience, hop aboard a cable car and cruise up and down the hilly streets, go to Golden Gate Park, and take a ferry ride out to Alcatraz, the historic prison on an island.
2. Yellowstone

Yellowstone is very popular in the summer. This is a pretty affordable vacation, and one that every American should take at least once in their lives. With dramatic peaks and beautiful lakes, this is an outdoors lover's paradise. There are geysers, verdant forests, lush meadows, hot springs and lots of wildlife. Even if you're not an outdoors fan, this national park is an amazing and beautiful place to go.
3. Chicago

The Windy City has so much to offer, especially in the summer with outdoor festivals and concerts happening in Millenium Park. There is amazing architecture and city sights to tour, including spectacular museums, Wrigley Field and the Magnificent Mile. If you're brave, marvel at the expansive city views from the Willis Tower Skydeck. Don't forget to try some famous Chicago deep dish pizza while you're there.
4. Cape Cod

This super preppy beach town in Massachusetts features sand dunes, quaint bed-and-breakfasts, scenic bike trails, and shingled beach cottages. Here, life moves at a slower pace, so you'll definitely feel relaxed and welcomed by the friendly locals. There are miles and miles of beaches here, as well as quaint spots to walk around, lots of lighthouses, and a few small museums.
5. San Antonio
This cool Texas city is unlike any other in the Lone Star State. Here, you'll find the Alamo, the River Walk which features boat rides, restaurants, and night life, caverns, and old trails that feature lots of history.
6. Savannah

This quintessentially southern city is a great place to go to for a leisurely weekend. Savannah, Georgia has great food, sights, and shopping. This would make a great girls only weekend trip, or a casual one with the family going to museums and sightseeing. This city is full of so much rich history, it's sure to be an educational vacation. If you like things on the spooky side, there are endless ghost and vampire, cemeteries and haunted house tours to embark on.
7. Nashville

A country music lover's paradise, Nashville is a great, funky tourist destination for the summer. There are country music museums galore, plantations to tour, lots of delicious food, and the Peabody Hotel, where you'll find ducks walking around the lobby. During the summer, there are also lots of outdoor festivals and concerts to see. Speaking of concerts, catch one at the historic Grand Ole Opry, or tour the spectacular concert hall and immerse yourself in the environment where countless music stars have performed throughout the years.
8. Sanibel Island

This little Florida town located just north of Fort Meyers, is the perfect mix of family friendly and relaxing. There is something for everyone on this beautiful Floridian island. There are spas, golf courses, and miles and miles of beaches that feature the best shells in all of Florida. You can also go boating, bird watching and snorkeling.
