Yay, it is that time of year again! Beyond being super excited, it is never an actual Christmas unless I take time out to watch some of my favorite holiday movies. Not only do they help to get me in the spirit but they also remind me how grateful I am that I get to enjoy this magical time of year. So, without further ado:
5. The Holiday
Besides having such an incredible cast and great on-screen chemistry, this movie manages to always get me in the spirit because of the friendship between Arthur and Iris. It's sweet to see the gap in generations not affect a friendship as many people may believe it might. It gave me more appreciation for the elderly and how their lives aren't over just because they're old. They still have so much more to offer us.
4. The Family Stone
The movie has diversity and so many great lessons about accepting others for who they are. Plus, it's very easy to relate for those visiting your SO's family during the holidays. Try sleeping with their siblings, maybe they're a better fit.
3. Polar Express
Oh, the places you can go if you just believe. Not only is it filled with Christmas adventure but the movie just oozes innocence and magic, something that can be easily lost as we grow up and lose faith in the holidays.
2. Home Alone 2: Lost In New York
Kevin is goals. Kid is such an amazing on-the-spot thinker, it seriously amazes me. Besides having such a smart story line and a very witty kid, the movie made me appreciate that I live in the best city during the holidays. New York is truly a treasure during December and this movie made me very grateful for it; it also got me out of bed and exploring New York during Christmas.
1. How the Grinch Stole Christmas
I appreciate this movie more and more each year for its amazing writing. No one would have sold it better than Jim Carrey. His sarcastic banter is something I just live for every holiday. This movie is the greatest gift I have ever received!
Whether some of these are your favorite or not, here’s to laying down in bed with hot cocoa and getting lost in the Christmas movie spirit!
