Since day one of new member period, I'd been thinking about and anticipating basket week. But, for those of us (like myself) who didn't quite know what to expect during those hallowed five days, let me enlighten you. Here's the top five reasons why basket week is amazing.
1. The T-shirts.
Chances are, someone along the way has warned you about the ridiculous amount of t-shirts that get passed down during basket week. If you're like me, you didn't believe them until you got a basket from your soon-to-graduate great great grandbig. Think of having more shirts than you know what to do with already, and then add about 50 more; that's basket week in a nutshell. I have officially run out of space in my room...and I couldn't be happier about it.
2. The Deliveries.
Personally, one of my favorite aspects of basket week has to be the deliveries. Each day, every girl has her basket delivered by a guy so as to keep the big's identity a secret. Lucky for me, my big seems to be pretty well connected with the athletes. Helloooooo Baylor football!
3. The Food.
The amount of food in the baskets is mind blowing. On my information sheet that I filled out before the week began, I put down my favorite chips, candy and food. Now, at the end of the week, I have more Sour Patch watermelons and Cheetos than I could ever possibly eat. Not to mention, I got my favorite queso from Torchy's and Cane's chicken for dinner on one of the days. If the stomach is truly the way to the heart, my big has mine!
4. The Clues.
If you're not absolutely positive about who your big/family line is, the clues in the baskets are a fun touch. Whether it's finding seashells scattered through the baskets or messages from Chris Brown and Trey Songz, your big's identity isn't usually a secret for long.
5. Your Family Line.
By far, the best part of basket week is being accepted into your family line. After a week of being showered in gifts, I know I'm ready for big/little reveal.
Basket week may seem like just a bunch of material things, but it has been so much more to me. Knowing that someone put their time and effort into making my week special means more than any basket ever could. It was the perfect way to be welcomed into a new family and I am looking forward to next year when hopefully, I can make my little feel as special as I did.
