Since January, 2016 has welcomed its fair share of intriguing TV series. From fantasy to suspense, this article will introduce you to some good watches of 2016 TV series.
1. "Game of Thrones"
Needless to say, "Game of Thrones has been quite the hit for a few years. This medieval fantasy begins its story in the city of Winterfell in the North, which faces the constant threat of the rise of an undead army sustained through legends for a thousand years.
After Season Five, the biggest question among "Game of Thrones" fans became, "Is Jon Snow dead?” Other rumors have it that Sansa Stark may be pregnant with Ramsay Snow’s child.
As the new Season Six begins on April 24th, the destinies of our favorite characters await.
2. "House of Cards"
Season 4 of House of Cards was released on March 4th of 2016. Again, this continuation of the series seems to have redeemed the not-so-well-done Season 3 with Frank and Claire’s conflict as a major role in the season. Season 4 picks up momentum using 2016 election, and brings the audience back to perfect cooperation between the scheming couple, which is one of the most attractive features of the TV series.
3. How to Get Away with Murder
While this TV series has not been as popular and well-known as Game of Thrones and House of Cards, the show in itself invokes a sense of curiosity for its audience to maintain interest. The show sets its background in a law school, with a famous lawyer Annalise Keating as a professor. Keating chooses five students to intern with her, and they eventually uncover secrets within her household, which results in a murder that they used a series of chain murders to cover up with her help.
Season 2 began at a slower pace than Season 1, but gradually picks up momentum after its midseason finale. If you’re interested in suspense and murder shows, this series is the one for you.
4. Once Upon A Time
What happens after a “happily ever after”?
That question is raised by this series that sets its background in a town name Storybrooke, where all the fairy tale characters exist in real life. In this world, we only know of some parts of a real story. The audience is taken to worlds beyond imagination, and revealed to hidden stories unheard of.
With new emergency of characters from fairy tales and myths all over the world, the battle between good and evil battles begins.
5. Sherlock
Evidently, the story revolves around the detective life of Sherlock Holmes. However, a drastic change of style in this series is that the setting takes place in modern day London, which adds extra features of crime and crime solving such as cell phones, computers, and forensic labs.
Each episode corresponds to a volume in the original books written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and each season is composed of a mere three to four episodes lasting around 90 minutes.
The only part of the series released in 2016 is a season special named The Abominable Bride, which was done to satisfy the audience since the new season would not be released until January of 2017.
