Top Fashion Trends For This Winter Season

As November comes to a close, and the final month of the year fast approaching, the weather here in the South is finally cool enough to embrace this season's biggest trends. There were so many new looks at the Fall/Winter 2015 runway shows last fashion week, and they have since been adopted by stores and bloggers who show how to wear the trends in the most practical and fashionable ways. Here are the top trends that are popular this fall/winter season:

1. Flared denim

The 70s were a big trend on the runways for Fall/Winter 2015. Along with the 70s comes flared jeans. Wear these with a crisp button down, a chunky sweater, or a fur or shearling vest. Throw on a trendy hat to fully embrace the 70s look.

2. Blanket scarves

By far one of the most popular accessories this season. So big and cozy, they are literally like a blanket. These are so versatile, with endless ways to tie and wear them. Here is a video showing you all of the ways to tie a blanket scarf by one of my favorite bloggers

3. Over the knee boots

These are so chic and can be work with jeans, a short dress, or a miniskirt. Best part is, they basically double as leggings, so go ahead and wear that old skirt that's too short!

4. Shearling vests

As soon as I saw these in the stores, I bought one immediately. They are a warm and western influenced addition to any winter outfit. I prefer the traditional camel with white faux fur.

5. Chunky knits

It is bound to get freezing outside at one point during this winter, so in that case, you'll want to be wearing something extremely warm, while also being fashionable. Let me introduce you to chunky knits. In dress or sweater variety, they can be worn to dress down a fancy skirt, or as a casual addition to jeans or leggings.

6. Leather

Leather is stylish in any form. Whether it be a skirt, jacket, dress, or pants, leather is a trend worth wearing. Embrace this trend for an edgier vibe.

7. Suede

This is another 70s influenced trend that is big for fall. Similar to leather, suede can be work in a variety of ways, whether it be a skirt, dress, vest, or boots. I love suede skirts with a striped turtleneck top or a camel colored suede dress.

8. Fringe

Ok, I know I sound like a broken record, but fringe is also, you guessed it, a major 70s style that has since emerged onto the fashion scene again. I love fringe on vests, jackets, dresses, skirts, boots, or purses. Fringe adds cool texture and a western vibe to any outfit.

9. Turtlenecks

Once thought to be only an item worn by older women or your grandmother, the turtleneck has undergone a revival and is seen in stores and on blogger's websites as a cozy addition to any outfit. Wear it under a sweater dress or with a blanket scarf and skirt, or with jeans and a fur vest. Turtleneck sweaters and sweater dresses are also cute for this cold season.

10. Capes and ponchos

Embrace your inner superhero or Blair Waldorf with a chic cape or try a poncho with jeans or leggings and boots or ballet flats.

Now that you know the top trends and how to wear them, get over to the mall and max out your credit card! It'll be worth it!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
