There really is nothing better than hanging out by the pool or with your toes in the sand while reading a good book. Here are just a few trending books to add to your summer reading list:

1. "Milk and Honey" by Rupi Kaur

This is the book for both lovers and strangers of poetry alike. Rupi Kaur does a beautiful job of expressing her emotional journey, divided into four chapters, of hurting, loving, breaking and healing. Each poem provides the reader with the ability to relay their own emotional journey alongside Rupi's words and illustrations.

2. "The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood

Before you watch the series on Hulu, be sure to read the book. It was written in 1986 but has recently gained attention when it was picked up to be filmed last year. It takes place in a future United States with drastic changes to the social order that we know today in order to maintain control of society.

3. "Into the Water" by Paula Hawkins

For those that read and enjoyed "The Girl on the Train," this is a must read. It is by the same author and offers a similar insight into the emotions of the characters presented in the novel. It has only been on bookshelves for a little over month and worth checking out.

4. "A Man Called Ove" by Fredrik Backman

With over 12,000 reviews and 4.5 stars on Amazon, it is worth looking into. The novel features an apparently bitter old man named Ove and a young family in a tale to make your heart happy.

5. "Beneath a Scarlet Sky" by Mark Sullivan

This novel provides a different perspective on World War II by following the experience of an Italian teenage boy. For those that love history, romance and suspense, this is the perfect summer read.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
