Top 5 Things to do Before Summer Ends

Enjoy the slightly more minor stress while you can!

As I'm sure we are all way too painfully aware, classes for the fall will be beginning soon. There are a few things I suggest squeezing in before classes begin again and we all have a whole new set of stress-inducing things to deal with!

1. Get extra hours at work!

OK, hear me out before you roll your eyes into infinity, please! If you take extra hours at work now, do you know what you won't have to do? I'll tell you: work extra hours once classes start. Do you know what that means? That means you have more time for homework and (my favorite) spending time with your friends! Whoo!

2. Check out the pool/lake/standing body of water.

This one is kind of obvious, I would hope. It's summer! Go! Swim! Be free! Enjoy the slightly lower level of responsibility while you still can!

3. Go geocaching.

I'm working on a date to go geocaching with a friend before I become so busy I can't keep my head straight. It's a great way to enjoy the outdoors and be a little more active. Plus it's great thing to do with a friend! Yay bonding time!

4. Pokemon Go it up.

Now, to my knowledge, nobody is gonna be actively preventing anyone from playing Pokemon Go once classes start (except maybe your professors in class), BUT you might as well play as much as you can while you still have the free time that will soon be taken up by homework.

5. Go to an amusement park!

This one is my favorite, for obvious reasons. Who doesn't love an amusement park? Personally, I'm planning a trip to Valley Fair here in Minnesota. Mostly because roller coasters AND a water park. Can life get any better? Maybe if I could afford to rent the whole park out just for my friends! Other than that, I don't think so!

Honestly, there are so many other great things to do before summer ends. Yeah, I know that most of us are SO busy working so we can afford college that we aren't having much fun or doing anything exciting as young adults. Take this time. Do a few fun things. Work will still be there the next day if you take a day off and do something fun.

And seriously, take any extra hours you can get at work. Make that money!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
