Summer is upon us and just as the seasons change, so has my taste in music these past few months. Just like the feeling of summer, my most recent playlist this season has a fresh beat, vibe, and life to it. I did not venture far from my usual indie pop genre, but I found myself also enjoying some different ones too. Take a look, and who knows, you may find your new favorite song!
1. Coldplay, "Adventure of a Lifetime."
This song has been my anthem since it first released at the beginning of this year. SO good! My only thing is that the music video is a bit different, but I can see the artistic vision and respect it. My favorite verse:
And if we've only got this life
In this adventure, oh, then I
Want to share it with you
2. Chet Faker, "No Diggity."
This cover of Backstreet's No Diggity by Chet Faker has been my jam! There is so much swagger from the original song, and Chet Faker was able to add even more if that's even possible?! He broke down the song, focused on the mood and it's brilliant. Simple as that.
3. Drop City Yacht Club, "Crickets."
I first found this song when I saw Endless Love in theaters, and I still enjoy listening to it two years later! So good! It just reminds me of the scene in the movie, so I won't spoil it for those of you who haven't seen the romantic love story.
4. Two Door Cinema Club, "This Is The Life."
This is one of my favorite songs; hands down. Period. I love Two Door Cinema Club, and this is one of their songs that I always find myself coming back to listen to. They have a bunch of great things, so it was hard to narrow it down. Check them out!
5. The Ceremonies, "Land of Gathering."
What first interested me in this song was the harmony! It is super, super cool! These three guys are extremely talented, and their indie vibe is infectious. I'm hooked. The only sad thing is they have not come out with any recent music since 2013, and they only have five songs out.
These are my top five songs from the plethora of music I've been listening to these past months, from spring to summer. Listening to new music is like trying new foods. Just as new spices and flavors are pleasing to our taste buds, our ears need a little awakening every now and then. This summer turn up the radio, roll the windows down, and enjoy!
