We all know that Lana Del Rey cannot put out a bad album. Every album brings a new wave of rhythmic beats and rhymes that keep us wanting more and more.
We replay her music in the car, in our earphones, and use her lyrics as our Instagram captions. She is a captivating celebrity and one who’s genre you just can’t quite place. And so here I provide you with my opinion of the top 5 songs on Lana’s new incredible masterpiece of an album.
5. Summer Bummer (ft. A$AP Rocky and Playboi Carti)
But baby
I got a feeling in my bones
Can’t get you out of my veins
You can’t escape my affection
This song sticks out to me because it is the ultimate summer song. The whole thing is catchy, to say the least. A$AP Rocky and
4. Cherry
My rose garden dreams
Set on fire by fiends
And all my black beaches (are ruined)
My celluloid scenes
Are torn at the seams
And I fall to pieces (Bitch)
This song just sounds like Lana. She describes falling to pieces while with someone (more than likely her lover). She answers the question of why? Which is being in love. This song is typical Lana, being in love but it
3. Coachella- Woodstock In My Mind
‘Cause what about all these children?
And what about all their parents?
And what about all their crowns they wear?
In hair so long like mine
And what about all their wishes?
Wrapped up like garland roses
Around their little heads
I said a prayer for a third time
This song ties two of the greatest festivals together. Coachella, a modern day music
2. Heroin
I’m flying to the moon again
Dreaming about Heroin
How I gave you everything
And took your life away
I put you on an aeroplane
Destined for a foreign land
I hoped that you’d come back again
And tell me everything’s okay
This song is beautiful and mesmerizing from the very beginning. I like how raw Lana is in this song. Not shying away from difficult topics. She takes it back to the late 60’s crime and also brings up Motley (referring to Motley Crue). She talks about giving someone her all who clearly only wants one thing that’s stronger than her. Give it a listen, you will want to sway your body back and forth.
1. Tomorrow Never Came (ft. Sean Ono Lennon)
I waited for you in the spot you said to wait
In the city on the park bench
In the middle of the pouring rain
‘Cause I adored you, I just wanted things to be the same
You said to meet me up there tomorrow
But tomorrow never came
Not going to lie, when I first heard this song I burst into tears. It is so beautiful, and Lana and Sean both give
This one truly paints a picture of two people deeply in love who want to come back to each other but the day never comes for them. Listen to it and take the lyrics to heart and I promise you’ll be begging for tissues after, at least I was.
And so here it is, my opinion on the top 5 songs on Lust For Life. This was hard to write because Lana’s album is truly a masterpiece and picking between all the beautiful melodies was nearly impossible.
To Lana, thank you for providing me with years of beautiful music that helps get me through the hard times and helps make my life a little easier each and every day. I applaud you, Lana Del Rey, you have truly outdone yourself with this one.
